Green light for MPP surgery Jan 20th. And now the nerves are settling in!

Postby JohnnyBorg » Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:05 am

Hey everybody, JohnnyBorg here!

Well, to start, I have great news.

- My surgery was approved by insurance, which I wasn’t expecting and am incredibly grateful for.
- Labs + EKG came back good, so cleared for surgery.
- I’m feeling confident in my decision proceeding with MPP on account of many personal factors that make it a great fit for me, which I’ll document in my journal coming up.

However, of course, my nerves are kicking in now that it’s all official! I’ve never been “under the knife” before, so anxious about that. Thinking about things that could go wrong, worried about extreme size loss, etc. All the usual suspects and honestly, just reading threads here on FT at least make me feel better knowing that pretty much EVERYONE here has had all the same fears.

Managing my expectations has been key. For me, I think these are the ones I’m anchored to:

A major “mission accomplished” for me would look like this:

- Successful implantation without infection (this will obviously be something I’ll be monitoring for for awhile).
- The malleable implant bends.
- The malleable implant is concealed (bulge is expected, but “obvious and obnoxious boner” would be a problem).
- The malleable implant becomes more comfortable over time and by 1 year just feels like “a part of me”.
- No “extreme” length loss. For me, my current stretched bone pressed length is a hair over 5 inches. So my GOAL (read as “hope” :D ) is my final size is around or over 4.5 inches. I’ve always been under average in this area my whole life so I’m not SUPER worried about it to be honest  but I think I’d be bummed if I end up clocking in closer to 4.0 inches.
- Girth doesn’t actually worry me as much - my expectations here are that I’m going to lose girth on account of it being an MPP. I know Urofill is expensive but if I absolutely HATE the girth loss, this is an option and Dr Hakky is a fantastic provider of it (he’s INCREDIBLY cautious with its delivery, treats it with the same infection protocols as an implant, etc). So this one for now is just a “brace yourself for the worst, be pleasantly surprised if it’s not that bad” :D
- Preservation of PIV orgasm function after a year of healing: this one is tough because I know that there are quite a few guys here who either A) have struggled with this after surgery and it took time to recover, or B) are still struggling after even a full year of healing. My hope is that within a year, I’ll be able to orgasm during PIV sex and am ready for sensation to potentially be less in early stages after surgery (and being cleared to have sex). Even though this is a risk though, I’ve already accepted it. I just want to be able to ENJOY sex without the strain of ED I’ve experienced my entire life, and so even if orgasm is impacted I’m remaining hopeful that I’ll figure something out. Planning on being very patient with this one during recovery.

Want to thank everyone as always for their contributions and consistent support throughout. I’ll be booting up my journal in the next week!

- Johnny

Well, congrats for getting the insurance approval. Nervous is something to be expected, I was 68 and had never had any surgery or been under anesthesia so the implant was my first time to worry about those. Yes, I was nervous as can be but all came out fine. I also had not found Frank Talk yet to know about all the issues that might show up. I think not knowing was best really.
Hope everything goes fine with your surgery.

Thanks Old Guy, I really appreciate it and it’s a relief to hear you had similar nerves.

Old Guy how in the heck can someone make it to 68 without having any medical procedure that requires anesthesia? I’m 62 and couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been knocked out, I can’t even keep up with all the testing I’m supposed to do at my age.

Johnny
Do your breathing exercises and focus on what you have been learning for aftercare. Getting knocked out is the best sleep you can ever get. Get a check list going as well with being nervous it’s easy to forget something.

Johnny, congrats on making the big commitment and getting to final approach. Yes this forum is filled with guys who went thru exactly what you're going thru -- hang in there. You've done all the research, considered all the options, made the decisions that are right for you, and you're ready.
FWIW, there's a recent thread that offers some perspectives that might be of inspiration, and maybe even calming. Best wishes !

Wishing you all the best for your surgery on the 20th.

Due to time zone I will probably be a few hours earlier with my IPP surgery on 20th in Australia.

I have all confidence in the highly trained medical teams that will be caring for us.
20 years of ED, initially managed by pills. Increasingly severe BPH, emergency HoLEP prostatectomy 4 years ago. Fixed the prostate but pills just don't work any more. Solution is decided.
Currently booked for surgery Jan 2026.

UpNorth, guess I was just lucky. My mom's side had great genetics. Grandma was 93, mom was 96, two uncles made it to 95. Dad made it to 89 despite alcoholism. Plus, I didn't do any daredevil shit. Well, yes, I did but not any truly dangerous crap. LOL
All I know is I am very grateful that my first surgery was elective.

Hey everyone, really want to thank everyone who replied with the kind words and encouragement.

Officially one week out now, and the pre surgery nerves are STRONG but I recognize that it’s all natural, and very different from the feeling of “I shouldn’t be doing this”.

I think a lot of me is realizing what a huge change in my life this is about to be. There’s so much potential for good if the outcome goes well. But I’m also feeling that pressure of “what if it DOESN’T go well - are you prepared for that?”.

Actually - I think I’m just generally feeling the weight of such a significant life choice I’m making - even though I know in my heart I want to do this and that I deserve an opportunity to have a healthy sex life that includes a reliable erection.

All this to say that I seriously appreciate the comments. They’re helping me anchor to why I’m doing this. I’m really looking forward to starting up my journal, will kick things off this weekend.
