I'm looking at a revision after being implanted with Titan in 2019. I did not expect to need to repeat this whole process so soon after getting the initial implant surgery. ....for God sake, I'm still driving the same vehicle (with dozens of far more complex systems than this relatively simple device)....so I'm wondering if I did anything to accelerate its malfunction.
Ove the years I've seen people fantasizing that if they use it less, they will prolong its life....but I'm inclined to believe that is not true. As I communicated with Coloplast and researched a little, it seems the cylinders, pump and reservoir are pretty much indestructible....and virtually all failures are the tubes. Is that consistent with what others have learned?
Do we know of any activities that contribute to a failure?
As I pour over the last few weeks up to the failure, I have come up with: treadmill, dead lifts, crawling on belly in crawlspace. Since I had not had sex for a year, I am ruling out any sexual positions, duration, frequency, intensity. it seemed fine for all that. I've always ran and lifted...so I'm ruling out normal exercise. but the deadlift and narrow treadmill did have a bit of an unnatural feel to them....and that belly crawl also felt suspicious.

No you cannot do anything to it unless you were literally grabbing the pump and twisting it repeatedly, and even then it should last a long time. They are designed to flex and survive 20 years and the only explanation for early failures would be some sort of flaw in the manufacturing process. If one guy walks around and sits on the toilet for decades with no trouble and the next guy goes to the gym a few times and it cracks, the issue has to be the quality control of the unit itself.
Oct 7, 2025 - Coloplast Titan XL - Touch pump - 26cm - 0.5cm RTE with Jonathan Clavell. Still sorting out TRT; plan to try a "modified natty" approach without injections.

I am a national record holding powerlifter. Regularly deadlifting 600+ pounds.
If that was a risk...mine would have broke long ago.
I think you'd purposely have to go out of your way to cause damage to your implant.
The only thing I can think of that I would be concerned with is long distance biking.
The 60 + revolutions of the pedals over hours....multiple times a week, over time might add aome wear on the tubing. But that being said...there are some avid cyclists on here that have had no problems.

There was a guy on here who was a very avid bicyclist and he went through several implants in a short time. I think that long duration, repetitive cardio motion can cause the tubing to rub together and drastically shorten the lifespan
Early 30s with ED from jelqing. Implant by Dr Eid on 24 June 2021 with a Titan 24cm with +1cm RTE on one side and -1cm cut off on the other side

I agree. Having worked on cars, motorcycles, boats, boat lifts, and other things with parts that rub against each other repetitively -- I've seen lots of evidence that repetitive friction causes wear. Maybe not enough to wear thru, but enough that pressure from within, or other forces, can cause premature failure. I see no reason that the tubing of an implant would be any different.
