Activation on Wednesday

Postby vincentarpino » Mon Dec 22, 2025 9:57 pm

Good Evening All:

Well, if you've been playing at home...and, really, who hasn't :)....tomorrow will be 7 weeks since my surgery. I am seeing my surgeon on Wednesday morning (yes, Christmas Eve) to finally activate my implant and get me cycling and going. It's been a long road and so many of you here have given me so much encouragement, I cannot thank you enough.

I've been deflated since surgery, btw. I seem to be all healed, and have "gained" (discovered?) about an inch back flaccid after the swelling finally subsided.

I AM a bit apprehensive about Wed. I've been trying to pump a little on my own in the shower; if not for anything else, just to soften up the pump. No more than five pumps...but...nada, nothing.

So, is there something that my doctor has to do to truly activate the thing?

I'm also a little apprehensive about the following:
The activation.
Cycling.
Sex...when can I start having sex again.
And, of course...size. What size is it actually going to be? My doctor said it would be about the same size as what I saw in the VED tube prior to surgery, which was about 6 1/2". But the cylinder size he put in with RTE's would equate to anywhere from 5.5 to a little under 6". So I am very apprehensive about THAT.

Any insight any of you could give me is greatly appreciated!

Thank you and happy holidays!

Vincent, my docs protocol was partially inflated for 6 weeks and I went in for device training at 6 weeks.
Before I went in to be deflated and get device training, we had went on a short vacation to Austin, Texas and I did try squeezing the pump a few times but that's all I did, I didn't want to damage anything.
Training day, the docs nurse deflated me and asked me to pump it up as much as possible. I could barely get in 10 pumps which got it back to where they had it after surgery. It was hard to pump it with pain still in my scrotum and the shaft of my dick. I have the older AMS MS pump which looks like a hand grenade, with lots of raised ribs. The surgical capsule had not formed completely yet, so the raised ribs on the pump hurt when I pumped it.
Find out your internal measurements, to see if that will give you some help with how you should measure.
My internal measurements were 11cm distal (outward) and 10cm proximal (inward) for a total of 21cm and I got 3cm of rear tips. I've had my implant for 4 years and when I measured after healing up, I'm at 6.25.
I hope that helps a little bit

Sorry I forgot to say something about clearance for sex. Your doctor will give you that clearance. My doctor cleared me at 6 weeks, but I still had too much pain. I waited till week 8 to have PIV sex and it still hurt and was awkward because I was trying to figure out how to get it pumped up enough and I still had numbness also. I was disappointing but it kept getting better every week.

Hang in there,
