Can You Skip A Day Of Cycling?

Postby Irish Lad 34 » Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:44 pm

I started cycling 3 days ago. My penis has been pretty sore the past few days. I'm now 25 days out from surgery. The penis pain actually hasn't improved and I feel like the daily cycling isn't giving it time to become pain free.

Is it safe to skip cycling for a day to see if it help with pain relief?

Absolutely. At one point earlier on I had cause some bruising and pain because of bad pumping technique.

I took a day off. It was the right move. I was a lot better after the break.

If you think you need a day off, take it.

Yes of course you can skip a day or more as you need. Nothing bad will happen.
Daily cycling is usually a recommendation, not a hard and fast rule. Some guys have protocols of much less than that.
My own experience is that both cycling and sex hurt initially, and for quite a while, but very gradually improved over time.
Do what your body is telling you right now and start cycling again in a day or two when you feel up to it.
And don't be too aggressive with the cycling this early, as that will cause any pain to be worse.
You don't need to inflate to 100% from day 1 of cycling to get back your original size. Don't sustain your erection for too long either. Aim to increase your tolerance slowly. The objective is to gradually stretch your internal tissue (tunica) back to its maximum size so that the implant can give you the best results possible.

I wasn't cleared to cycle until 6 weeks out so every doctor is different with how much they inflate if at all when they have people start cycling etc. My opinion is that it certainly wouldn't hurt to take the day off if it's that painful. Here again though that's just MY opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

I’m going under for my tubing revision next week and will likely need to take 1.5 weeks off cycling. I doubt that’ll make much of a difference long term if I continue cycling for 3 x 30 minutes for the next 18 months.

When I first started cycling, I used aspercreme (4% lidocaine) liberally applied to the shaft and glans, and it really helped keep the pain manageable.
