Swelling

Postby Gringoinparadise » Sat Dec 06, 2025 8:44 am

Hey guys, I just need a boost of confidence right now. Two days out from the surgery and my dick and balls are so swollen that it looks like I have elephantitis. My surgeon doesn’t seem too concerned, but it’s quite uncomfortable and looks bizarre. How many days postop before the swelling went down for you guys? My surgeon seemed to think it would take a few days at least, but said it would be slow going. :(

It will take some days, but don't worry, it will go away.
As long you can pee, it's nothing dangerous.
You could also use some ice pads to make the swelling down quicker.

Yeah, I’ve been peeing since yesterday when they took the catheter out. Still stings a little bit, and sprays in various directions, but all good. Just peeing in the shower just so I don’t spray all over my toilet. :-P
Also, just moved my bowels for the first time so happy to get that out of the way! One step at the time…

Gringoinparadise, I had a rougher recovery than most, and it took almost 8 weeks before the swelling went down enough to cycle. Anything less than that and you'll be way ahead of where I was. :) Be patient, ice, and heal.

Sorry to hear how uncomfortable you are. Very normal to have lots of swelling and soreness. Time is the healer, and it is sometimes slow going. As mentioned, ice packs can help the swelling go down. Rest and chill on the couch.

My left nut and fat pad were swollen big time. I bruised horribly almost all the way back to my rear along the top part of my thigh. It looked like my nuts had been used as a punching bag. By far the biggest pain was in my fat pad area on both sides. I could hardly walk for awhile because of the pain. Second to that was the pump area around my left nut. Two weeks of pain pills, but by six weeks out I was pretty good and was able to have sex with my wife again.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys! Actually 24 hours has made a significant difference. The swelling in the shaft has gone down quite a bit. Now the most painful area is definitely around the pump in my left testicle. I’ve been on a steady around the clock regimen of Tylenol as well as a prescription Cox-2 inhibitor. Also, my surgeon told me to actually switch to a heating pad rather than ice after the first 24 hours, which actually does feel pretty good. So, just gonna hang in here for the process, take it one day at a time. Another guy here had wrote something about every day being a completely new and different experience after the surgery… so far, I would concur! But each day is one day closer to a better sex life :D
