psychological problem most

Postby Jimakos » Sat Nov 29, 2025 1:31 am

It has been asked many times here whether an implant can help with psychogenic erectile dysfunction, which affects many more men than organic problems. Is there anyone here who had serious psychogenic erectile dysfunction and was helped by the implant?

Jimakos, I'll admit I had to Google that (pED) to make sure I understood what that is. I don't know whether I can answer your question directly, but here's something that might be relevant. ED is really tough on most guys, and can even become a negative feedback loop. The effect of ED, stress and lack of confidence, can itself become a factor in limiting the erection process. Again, I don't know if that qualifies as pED, but it seems similar. From my experience, the implant became a source of confidence. It took awhile, but knowing, accepting and anticipating that I can really be hard whenever I want, and stay that way as long as I want no matter what conditions or distractions, really was a game changer -- something that far exceeds the capability of the original equipment. Not only did it erase the nagging stress and lack of confidence associated with ED, but over time it became a huge boost to confidence with a ripple effect throughout my marriage.

In terms of erection and sexual function, the implant makes pED a non-issue. Having said that, even with an implant a guy can still feel the effects of lack of desire, or loss of sensation. But I believe the confidence, and new successful sexual experiences, that comes with restoring sexual function gives a guy a huge leap forward in dealing with other issues.

I don't understand this question. If you have any kind of ED, the implant is going to fix it. The implant is a mechanical solution. It doesn't matter what kind of ED you have. If you have a functioning implant, ED is gone. Period. This is sort of like asking if a knife will cut a green apple in half. Of course it will. It doesn't matter whether the apple is red or green. It's going to be cut in half.

My friend, this answer is so informative..a urologist told me that I only have a psychological problem and no matter how much it persists, I don't need an implant..but by asking other doctors I got answers that even if the erection problem persists and it is only psychological, then the implant is the definitive solution.

I know that the implant permanently solves erectile dysfunction.. it's just that in most cases it is recommended for organic problems by urologists.. and I ask if the problem is psychological, then do the doctors proceed with implant surgery?

I am deeply suspicious of any doctor that says that a man’s erectile dysfunction is all in his head.

I could still get erections. They just sucked and didn’t last.
My mental state DEFINITELY had an impact on the quality of my organic, natural erections. If I was really well rested, relaxed, no distractions, all the stars were aligned I could get a firmer erection than if I was tired and stressed. But even those erections were far from adequate.

In the end it was found that I had horrible venous leak. I had a tremendous amount of blood flowing into my penis. Well above average in fact. But it wasn’t STAYING in my penis. It was all just flowing out.

But it didn’t matter what the tests showed. Pills no longer worked. Shots no longer worked. It was time for an implant. I have NO regrets at all. I love my implant. It’s a bit like having a super power.

If pills don’t work and shots don’t work seriously consider getting an implant. If one doc says no, look for another doc.
57yo, NYC. ED started at 40. Pills, then shots for 10 years. 24cm Coloplast Titan XL w/classic pump by Dr Eid 3/25/2025. Will meet for show & tell.
