Since October I've been trying to get a specific doctor to do my implant but have been unable to cuz at that time he was leaving the hospital and transferring to another hospital. Since he was fully booked with surgeries with limited time there, he couldn't squeeze me in his schedule for surgery at all.
Surprisingly, just last week my doc's secretary called me to offer surgery on Jan 8th from a cancellation to which I agreed. She scheduled me for surgery on January 8th.
Today, I call my doctor's secretary back about setting up an appointment to see him about going over the procedure and other questions. But she told me he's on leave or vacation until Jan 7th, a day right before my surgery and we haven't even discussed implant type as in AMS or Titan!
The secretary then offered a video call with hm on Jan 7th, again, the day before my surgery. She said its the only day he has available to talk after returning from vacation. Again, this is a day BEFORE my surgery and I need to ask him several questions before the surgery.
This left me scratching my head and confused. I really need to talk to him but not as late as 1 day before the actual surgery.. Let me know what you guys think of this.

What do you know about him?
Do you have complete faith in him?
Lots of questions to ask yourself.
Rewind to June and this happened to me, I’d go for it as I had assurance from a lot of members that he is great.

If I were you, I would postpone the surgery.
My surgery was at the end of October, and I had a pre-op appointment at least a month before.
I also had a lot of questions for my doctor. I was pretty committed to having the surgery. But being able to ask the questions and have time to digest his answers certainly helped me be more relaxed going into the surgery.
It's a big deal! I think it's important enough to have a meeting beforehand.

Is he prepared to have an email conversation with you? Outline all your queries and send them off. He can either answer now or address them at the video call
PS
I first met my surgeon while they were wheeling me into theatre
Previously to this we had a video consultation followed by an email conversation.
It all worked out well for me

Lots of questions to ask yourself.
So my doc has done lots of yt vids on the subject of penile implants and other uro surgeries. He works for Mount Sinai in NYC which is no joke. He does more implants than the person whom he had recommended before when I thought he was leaving the hospital. He even said that he does more implants than him. I felt good talking to him twice in person and once over the phone.
let me know what you think.

But he's leaving the hospital and transferring to another one. This is my only option to have an implant with him that my insurance accepts. The only other dotor that accepts my insurance is Dr Dr Hossein Sadeghi-Nejad. I read one good thinkg about him on this site but I haven't read anything else other than that. Although google AI said that he's a high volume doc.
Let me know what you think please.

Good question. I'll ask the secretary about email correspondence but since he's on vacation that will be difficult to get as an in-person visit. But I'll ask her if it's possible.
Who was your doc? Are you satisfied with your implant?

Well you’ve met him and have confidence in him I’d say go for it. You need to call it. Just a note you will have anxiety over this and if you feel confident in your doctor don’t let him be part of the anxiety.

My Dr was Christopher Love in Australia. I believe he is the most high volume implanter in this part of the world. I could have had the surgery at home in New Zealand but there are only a few low volume surgeons there. However there is a surgeon who trained under him who is local and who could provide follow up in the event of any issues arising. However the planned follow up with both my surgeon and his nurse will be by video calls. Perhaps this could work for you as well? He could still provide the follow up even jf he has moved on to another hospital.
I'm only 3 days post op, but I'm more than happy with the outcome. Everything I'm experiencing appears to be par for the course and I'm expecting my recovery to run the normal course.
To be honest I have had much more complicated surgeries with a radical prostatectomy and a high end resection both within 6 months of each other and follow up is minimal, basically just a quick check up to see that all is well. The important part is what happens during the surgery itself. That is why you want the best surgeon you can find. Their personality and bedside manner are of little consequence, It is their skills and experience that matter.
