Whatever you decide, make sure you’re working with a dedicated implanter. These high-volume implanters see every anatomy, every brand, every complication, and they usually have a very good feel for which device will fit your body, your goals, and your lifestyle. Be totally open with him about what matters most to you and then ask him directly:

“Given my situation, what would you choose if you were in my shoes?”
“Which implant do you think gives me the best overall outcome long term, and why?”

Once you’ve found someone who does a lot of these and you feel comfortable with their answers, lean into their experience and trust their recommendations. Picking the right surgeon and following his best judgment for your case is more important than chasing any specific brand or model you read about online! Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree with you 1000%. I will also follow up with my doc with the questions you posted. If you have other input that I may use to ask my doctor please let me know and thanks for everything brother

To me, it's really weird that your doctor wouldn't make a recommendation. Before my first visit, I was researching AMS versus Coloplast, mostly here on FrankTalk. I had a good idea of various pros and cons. I was going back and forth between pump size vs cylinder thickness vs flaccid quality, etc., but then when I met with my doctor, high volume who also does both, he said, "For you, I recommend Coloplast." I had studied enough to know that either would be fine, and my philosophy is that the doctor knows better than me.

I would say, push him a little. Surely he has an opinion. If not, flip a coin. Both are good. Neither is perfect.

As an fyi when I 1st met him we were discussing my ED issue and talked about implants. He then asked me if I wanted to think about getting the surgery to which I said "No, I want to get the surgery" and he said to give him a week to put me on his surgery schedule. About a week passes by and I contact him to remind him but he said he was leaving the hospital. I was mad as fook as a result. But just last week he said someone had cancelled their surgery and asked me if I wanted to fill in that spot and I said "hell yes." So I'll set up an appointment to see him about that issue in terms of AMS vs Coloplast.

Just a thought. Has anyone looked into revision brand swapping by implantees? I went from an AMS LGX to a Titan and though the Titan only lasted two years I stayed with the Coloplast product for my next revision which gave me my current unit. Heaven willing this one will be faithfully working for many years to come. If not, at that time I would strongly consider a CX but as it stands,(3 years and counting), I believe that I’ll probably stay with Titans until…
My recall is definitely not what it used to be but to my recollection of over a decade here, if I had to make a guess as to the answer to my fist question I would guess that more go from the AMS product to the Titan than visa versa.
Thoughts? Or even better, does anyone have the figures?
