Tomorrow’s the day.

Postby IneedANippSOON » Mon Nov 10, 2025 4:04 pm

My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow in Los Gatos. I’ll admit—I’m more nervous than I probably should be, and this is actually my first time posting here. I did reach out privately to a few members for reassurance, and I’m really grateful for the support and openness in this community. It means a lot to have a place where men like us can share, learn, and lean on each other through this process.

I’ll post an update after the procedure and hopefully be able to share some encouraging details for anyone who’s in the same place I am right now (a bit scared and anxious, to put it lightly).

Thanks to everyone who’s shared their stories—it really helps more than you might realize.

Good luck!
You've already done the hard part:
Committed to make things better and taken the steps to set it up to happen.
All you have to do now is show up and take care of yourself afterwards!
Congrats in advance. Im ~10 weeks post op and its the best choice I've made for myself in a really long time. Im sure you'll feel the same very soon.

Thanks Colby-Jack! Nerves are really getting the best of me at the moment. I appreciate the support, and I'm glad to hear you're happy with your outcome. (Fingers crossed) this will be my result as well.

Agree with what others say, the hard part is over. You have it scheduled, you’ve made your decision now just set back and stop worrying and let it happen. I’ve stated on here many times, your mental attitude is at least half if not 3/4 of the battle of a good recovery. If you keep a positive attitude it goes a long way. Sure you probably will have some pain when you wake up… that’s expected…. You will have some discomfort the first several weeks…. This is a given…. You’ll have questions, just ask and you’ll get answers here….once the surgery is over there’s nothing you can do but focus on healing for at least several weeks so kick back and think about how good it’s going be. Thinks will look short at first…. Normal, there’s lots of swelling and it makes it look short. This will get better if sized properly. Hang in there it’s a ride worth going on!

I was in your boat three weeks ago. It’s terrifying, don’t let anybody tell you differently. But the fear is mainly fear of the unknown…you have limited information, and you’ve never been through this before.

I will say the actual surgery is much less traumatic than you fear it will be. You’ll pass out and wake up and it will be done. Then you just listen to your surgeon and take it one day at a time. There will be challenges and moment of fear and panic, but in the end just keep moving forward and it will work out fine.

You have a great surgeon, just let him guide you.

IneedANippSOON, congrats on making the commitment and on final approach ! As other members said above, what you're experiencing is very common. My advice is to stay focused on where you'll be weeks from now.
