What To Expect From Implant Surgery

Postby Irish Lad 34 » Fri Nov 07, 2025 4:12 pm

I'm scheduled to be implanted via the penoscrotal approach with a Coloplast Titan in 5 days - Wednesday 12th November.

I'm excited and terrified at the same time.

Surgeon is Dr Rowland Rees. Location is London. I believe Dr Rees is a very good implant surgeon.

What should I expect here in terms of pain, recovery, look and feel of the penis, ability to function etc? Any tips to help me through the journey?

I've been told I will probably have a catheter in my penis and things will be very sore and swollen for a few weeks.

I'm from Ireland. Age 35. I have booked 9 days in an Airbnb in London but I can add a few more days to my stay if I need to. I have booked 2 weeks sick leave off work and then requested a work from home permit for at least 1 week upon my return.

My mother will be coming to London to help me travel from the hospital to the Airbnb. I will stay in my parents house for for 1 - 2 weeks when I return from London and commence working from home. I usually work in an office.

I can adjust these plans if I need to.

***also should I continue using injections and/or pills right up to the day of surgery so that the penis is not always shrivelled?

I think your plans are reasonable. I’d be back at work after two weeks, had I not developed a large hematoma. That caused me to need to work from home an additional two weeks.

I think you’ll be okay in two weeks barring any complications, but keep that extra time in your back pocket just in case.

Good luck, I’m excited for you. I like my Titan so far.

It looks like you have some pretty reasonable expectations planned out there. I was down for two weeks but fairly mobile after that. I took pain meds for two weeks is what I'm saying. I have the ams so I can't really say what your flaccid will look like. Mine looks pretty natural. Bigger than my flaccid before but natural looking which I'm happy with. Main thing is to take it easy, don't push yourself, rest and get some more rest along with a lot of ice and then heat. My biggest area of pain was in the pubic pad by far and then after that subsided the ball area where the pump is. I'm at 7 weeks and still have minor discomfort where the pump is concerned. Inflating for me is a non issue. I could leave it inflated for hours if I wanted to so that's nice as a lot of people have pain doing that. Terror and excitement are common emotions. When I went in for surgery my blood pressure was running high until they sedated me to bring it down. Hang in there and try to relax. It's definitely a process for all of us.

The first day or two wasn't too bad, pain-wise. Whatever block that the surgeon used took some time to wear off. So don't be surprised if the pain is worse day three or four than day of surgery.

If you're mummy wrapped, don't be too proud to pee in the shower.

Don't judge the look or feel of your penis after surgery. My immediate thought was WTF!?! Things will get better as you heal and begin to break your implant in. Your flaccid may look erect until you start cycling.

Aside from urination, your penis needs to heal before you try to use it, even solo. Every doctor has their own routine and I urge you to listen too your doctor.

Just remember to ice, be patient, and do what your doctor says.

Welcome to the brotherhood.

You will be fine and you've got all the logistics covered. Yes there will be WTF moments, but try and push through those as the rewards are definitely there with time, healing and patience. Wishing you all the best.

Always go with your surgeon's advice, even when it's different to what anyone tells you on here, including me.

That said, I would not continue injecting. I know it's only a jab and I'm sure you follow excellent hygiene protocols.
But personally I would not risk any any cavernosal open wound becoming infected, however trivial the puncture site may be.

I would also stop any ED pills at least 24 hours beforehand. Also confirm with your doc about when to stop any other medications.
Mine had me stop anything with blood thinning properties well in advance, even fish oil tablets.

If you aren't already doing so I would be using a VED at least twice a day until the day before surgery, to stretch the penile tissue.
It won't increase your size but can help allow the largest cylinders suitable for your anatomy to be implanted.
Just don't overdo it, as you don't want edema, bruising or anything else to jeopardize your surgery date.

Recovery great so far but have a bend.
