ElbowRoom, best wishes this afternoon, hope Hakky's explanation and guidance are easy to work with.

Saw Hakky this afternoon. I have a large hematoma, basically my scrotum is swollen and full of blood. He thinks I must have torn a blood vessel while pulling the pump down to reposition it. I guess I was a ham-fisted gorilla with the amount of force applied.

He didn’t seem to concerned about it. He wrapped it and told me to alternately apply ice and heat, and take it easy a few days. I can’t really get to the pump deflate bars through all the swelling. He said hold off cycling until I can find the bars easily…maybe the end of next week.

This will set back my cycling and recovery progress a week or two, but should not have any long term consequences. I guess I need to be more gentle with the equipment.

I can identify.

Dr Eid did such a beautiful job with my surgery I had very little swelling and no bruising… until I bruised the shit out of my scrotum with bad pumping technique. LOL. There definitely is a learning curve.

It sounds like your bruising was more significant than mine but the solution was similar. I took a few days off of pumping and applied heat whenever I could. It resolved relatively quickly.

Glad you are on the mend.

Sorry to hear that ElbowRoom, but it does seem likely a minor setback. Yes it's probably wise this early to be kind to the gear while everything is healing :). Based on my own experience to date, you can be rougher with it after that, within reason. And hopefully the pump is in its optimal position by then. The cylinders, pump etc are designed to take quite a bit of force I think. But my thinking is that I wouldn't do anything with my implant that I would not have done with my pre ED dick. That said I've definitely been putting mine through its paces and all good so far :D.

Good luck with the progress, ElbowRoom! Just a small hiccup on your journey, although I must say you are a much braver man than me. :D You did mention your doc having a different approach as to when to start cycling. I haven't dared try to start pumping yet, but I think I would be just fine, as I've been healing very well: I've only had a couple of times when I've felt a bit of swelling. My doc will call me in two weeks, but I'll probably start cycling a couple days prior to that, so that I can ask about any concerns that might show up. I have no trouble finding the bulb and the deflate button on the pump.

Don't worry, the hematoma resolves in 1 or 2 weeks and you will start cycling again and should be more gentle with pulling the pump.
I had not to pull the pump at all, don't exactly know, why the surgeon told you to pull the pump?

My understanding is that most patients need to pull and re-position their pump to some degree, and it’s in my doctor’s standard post-op instructions. My pump was pretty high and far back on the right side, so I kind of have to dig in from the right to reach it, and it is a little inconvenient. I could probably inflate it with my left hand, but I doubt I could deflate except with my right hand. My goal was to move the pump position lower and to the left to where I could access it easily with either hand. I think I made some progress, it now feels lower, but still toward the right side.

ElbowRoom, sorry to hear that -- I can relate. After surgery when getting into the car for the ride home, I miscalculated clearing the seat cushion bolster, dragged my scrotum across it with all my weight on it, and that moved the edge of the bandages/gauze right on top of the scrotum stiches. Hurt like hell until I got home and removed the bandages. Also caused massive bleeding that turned into a scrotum bull of blood, edema down my thighs, and a large ring of hematoma around the base of my shaft that prevented me from moving the shaft any direction except straight forward -- for several weeks. Even after the swelling had mostly gone down, it took longer for my body to re-absorb all the hematoma.

Hopefully the small amount of hematoma you have will be absorbed quickly and you'll be back on track soon ! Best wishes.
