Tomorrow is the day, Dr. Hakky will give me a PS Titan implant with the Classic pump. This is a placeholder post so I'll have a tread to post to as I have updates. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow if I'm not too loopy from the anesthesia.
Today is prep day. Hakky has me on a clear liquid diet (no cream for my coffee, boo!), and I'm getting everything set up for tomorrow. I'm laundering all my clothes and bedding, dusting/sweeping/vacuuming, and wiping down every surface I might touch with anti-bacterial wipes. I'll move my computer and hook it to the TV so I can watch TV, surf, and play games all from my big oversized chair or the couch.
For meals, so I don't have to cook or think about it, I have engaged the cookunity.com meal service, which delivers high-quality pre-prepared meals that only require heating up. On a promotion I was able to get 16 meals (basically two meals a day for a week) for less than $100. My sister uses this service and raves about it. I'll let ya'll know what my experience is with them.
Mentally, I'm kind of all over the map...equal parts excitement, terror, wondering if I'm making the right decision, and thinking "WTF are you doing?!?". I know this is all normal, but it's an uncomfortable headspace to be in. I'm prepared for the recovery pain and hassles, but in this situation "you don't know what you don't know," so it's hard to be truly prepared for everything that will or might happen.
EDIT: I also started taking L-Glutamine, which is supposed to be an excellent supplement to promote wound healing, and I'll continue taking it as I recover. If anybody else has experience with it, I'd be interested to hear your results.
I'll update as events unfold!
