I definitely know what you are going through being nervous and anxious. It was sort of a shock when your urologist tells you that he has a fix for your ED but then he tells you there is no turning back after you get it done.
My ED started in my mid 40's too. I'm retired Air Force so I got my viagra and cialis through the military system and it worked well until my early 60's.
It was such a pain to try and schedule sex and pop a pill when you think you're gonna get lucky.
I would have to take it without having a meal that would cancel it out in my late 50's and early 60's.
I started having prostrate problems also in my early 60's, I went to see my military urologist about the problems I was having and the pre appointment questionnaire had tons of questions about sexual health, so I just poured out my soul with all my ED problems.
So after the appointment about my prostrate, which they scheduled a procedure to shrink my benign enlarged prostrate, they showed me a video about a permanent solution to ED, which was the IPP.
I had the prostrate procedure done first, which was the Boston Scientific Rezum procedure which allows you to keep your normal ejaculate, I had total ED afterwards. I'm thinking the steam injections hit some of the nerves down there, so nothing would get me hard after that. :(
I had to deal with that for 3 months until I got my AMS 700 LGX.
It was a journey the first year, but I'm almost 4 years out from surgerynow and everything is great and sex is great.
I LOVE MY BIONIC onDemand DICK :!: 8-)
No more worrying about when to take a pill, just pump and go :!: :D
My wife started Hormone replacement therapy a little over a year ago and it's like we are back in our early 30's.

Good Luck SilkyFox

Thank you and everyone. I also get my care from the VA. I am sure it is all going to be fine, nerves are nerves.

SilkyFox,
I didn’t use the VA, I went to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Army Major Shane Barney did my surgery implant at Lackland Air Force Base Amblatory Surgical Center.
He did a great job.
There is a large VA hospital here, Audie Murphy but I don’t think I would use them.

silkyfox, congrats on beginning your journey ! Glad to hear you have a supportive wife -- I know from experience that really helps. Be sure to set her expectations about the recovery path that others described. It can take several months to a year to be fully back in the game.

Wednesday is my 6 month follow up I remember waiting for surgery the morning of thinking, oh my goodness what am I doing. Then I remembered the why-
I had successful prostate surgey (and lost length) but I was having trouble keeping an erection. Pills stopped working and injection hurt 10/10 but only got useful erection 2/10. Final straw was shooting up on vacation only to fail. I felt terrible even with a very supportive wife

So I took a deep breath and got on with it. Read the boards about what to expect post surgery. I am delighted with the outcome. I rarely have any discomfort. Also regarding it being permanent., remember you always get a maleable if needed

Good luck -keep us posted.
Believe post prostate surgery I was around 5 inches down from 6. Never measured girth but post titan otr 20 cm seems thicker.

silkyfox wrote:Gentlemen, I write this not really looking for advice or opinion. My IPP date is set for this Thursday 8/14/25. Be there at 6am. I wont change my mind, but the questions remain in my head. Is this the right thing to do? Will I heal quick? How much length or size will be lost, etc, etc, etc. All the questions anyone has had, I have the same.

Like everyone, I had a long list of questions for my doctor. By the time I actually made an appointment, I decided that the only questions worth asking were to confirm the doctor's competence. For all of the other questions, FrankTalk taught me that the answer was, "It's highly variable and not really possible to predict." Post-op size? Variable. Healing time? Variable. Post-op erection angle? Variable. And so on. And I figured out for myself that none of the answers really mattered. I cared more about a dick that actually works than I did about size, healing time, erection angle, or any of the other things I was curious about. And I chose a high-volume doc, so there wasn't really anything to do there.

I was back and forth on AMS versus Titan, but in the end I just did what my doc told me. He said, "For your anatomy, I recommend Titan." Fine! Why would I choose a doc I trust and then override his recommendation? What do I know about it?

My healing was on the slow side, with more swelling/inflammation than expected (unusual according to the doc), but all's well that ends well, and I'm thrilled with the result. Wish the same for you.

Very best wishes for your upcoming surgery silkyfox. Yes the nerves and anxiety are common but there's a very high likelihood that you'll be happy with the outcome. Like many others the implant has been a game changer for me. Be patient and don't expect too much too soon post op, and please be kind to yourself during recovery.
71, married, Sydney Oz. PC & nerve sparing RRP Mar 22, profound ED since. Tried pills, Trimix inj, focal shockwave, VED.

Deep down I know this is the best choice for me, and yet I'm nervous and anxious.

Good luck tomorrow. Wishing you the best always.

I can relate to the feeling of anxiety. I think there are always some unknowns and that creates anxiety. My surgery is in 2 weeks. I also feel anxious.

We just have to stay positive and everything will be alright.

Your story and age are almost identical to my journey. See my profile! Go into it with a positive attitude! You may have a rough recovery or you could have a walk in the park! Attitude (expectations) have a big play in this journey. I was one of the lucky ones! Took one pain pill for my 4-1/2 hour ride in the car home from surgery about 48 hours after surgery. Never took anything but a few ibuprofen’s. Very little swelling and had almost zero issues with first inflation or deflation. I had been on Franktalk for several years prior to surgery so as others have said I had very little questions for the Dr. little over 3 years now and going at it HARD as a rock whenever and wherever I want! Only wish I had gone implant when pills quit working and skipped the 16 months of injections! Go into surgery positive and never look back! If you weren’t ready for this than you wouldn’t be doing it! Good luck my soon to be bionic Brother!
