It's only just 5 months post op but I think I'm getting much closer to "normal".

If you have no discomfort fully pumped hopefully it should improve. At 4 months I still had similar things going on. I could also keep going more or less indefinitely but yes, it could cause pain if I got significantly out of alignment when thrusting hard. Everyone has a different rate of recovery and outcomes can also vary, but I'm guessing that it's likely you will get there eventually. Yes, masturbation is generally easier/faster to climax, but all sexual activity is also dependent on the level of mental stimulation at the time.
