Penile Doppler Tests UK

Postby LiverpoolLad » Sun Jul 13, 2025 6:49 pm

Hi all just wondered if anyone had any experiences with getting a private penile Doppler test in the UK?

If so where did you get it/ how much?

Thanks

Went NHS. Had an argument with the consultant.

Why you going private?

Hello - How come you had an argument?

Just curious tbh, I’m quite far along the treatment pathway so unsure whether they’d agree to do a Doppler test now.. if it was something which wasn’t ridiculous price I might consider it.

Asked my consultant about this and other things, he said that given my zero success with everything from pills to injections, this was the clearest possible indication of Atheroschlerosis to the blood supply, and given that history anyway, there was only one effective treatment option left, then it would be a pointless waste of NHS money.
What do you think it would find that would make any difference?
Onset of ED at age 46, no erection since, pills, VED , Injections, no luck, not even once.
Implanted 19.04.2023 in UK, with Rigicon Infla 10 AX, not functioning.
Waiting for date of revision for complete removal and replacement with AMX.

Because my fight was delayed and I was late for the appointment. I called in before and they said he'd agreed to wait for me. Then tried to berate me when I arrived for being late. Twat.

He was very apologetic afterwards when he came to his senses knowing he'd be fucked if I went to PALS.

I'm far down treatment path and just got an MRI. You could at least ask for a Doppler. Don't ask don't get.

I would make sure that they know ahead of time that you are there for the Doppler.

I have had very long unhappy experiences with urologists, I would show up for three or four things and they would do one and want to reschedule 6-8 weeks later and repeat.
That is Erie Pa. Not UK.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Should we get a Doppler within six weeks starting pills if they do not create ironwood right out of the gate?

I did a private consultation with Dr Rowland Rees in London last week.

He has referred me for an MRI + Ultrasound with Caverject. Total cost £1,200+! Stomach nearly hit the floor when I read the quote.

£450+ for the Ultrasound and £774 for the MRI. Makes no sense to me lol. I'm now desperately trying to get my Irish insurance to cover the cost of doing these tests in England.

You're based in Ireland? What's the public health system there? Why can't you use NHS or the Irish health system to just do these tests/then continue on with surgery with Rees?

I have public and private health care in Republic of Ireland but they don't do penis MRIs in Republic of Ireland.

I also have an address in Northern Ireland (UK) and I have an NHS GP there but how would I get him to refer me to London for an MRI? I don't think he would do that. I only ever consulted with him once, 2 years ago, and he wasn't very sound. I don't want to imagine how the conversation would go if I called in and asked him to get the NHS to pay for my MRI in England.
