Where is you reservoir located on your abdomen?

I got a 3 piece installed 8 days ago. The location of the reservoir has me concerned. It is located very low, basically at the base of my penis. I called the surgeon and he said it may be herniated and he will look at my 2 week follow up. He also instructed me to "do some research on the subject."

Where is your reservoir located? Is it higher up on your abdomen, or at the base of the penis, somewhere else?

You can watch many videos by the leading surgeons and you’ll see it’s generally around your waist line. Mine is definitely just at my waistline and offset of middle about 2 inches to my left.

BobDobbs, 1st welcome to the bionic brotherhood ! How has your recovery been ? To answer your question, my reservoir is just below my waistline, about half way from the center to the left side. It wasn't where he normally puts them ... and there were good reasons for moving it to the left. I have a separate incision for it, but it doesn't bulge and isn't visible. However I can feel the connectors that the tubes to the reservoir connect to.

Welcome. I hope your recovery is coming along smoothly.

My reservoir was placed blindly up through the left inguinal canal. That’s common in the Peniscrotal approach. I only know it’s on the left because of the tubing in the scrotum. Nothing visible but I can feel inside the scrotum goes left. I can’t feel or see the reservoir. I’m 6’2” and 220# so I’m not overweight but trim either.

On occasion I can feel a faint rumble as I inflate or deflate.

Do you have concerns? Or just curious?

I have no idea where mine is.
I did feel like what I guess a hernia would feel like after surgery, but now nothing.
I think my surgeon really knew what he was doing, but he had big fingers lol.

Are you sure it's the reservoir and not the pump? If you have a small scrotum the pump could ride up or the surgeon might have placed it high. I can't see any surgeon placing a reservoir where it could feel like it was at the bottom of your penis.

There are basically two place the reservoir is typically placed:

1) Space of Retzius - nestled in your pelvis alongside your bladder, slightly above, behind, and to one side of your penis. This placement seems to be most common.

2) Sub-muscular, under the muscles of your abdomen. This can be in various places along the side of your abdomen, up to about your navel, where it's called a "High Sub-Muscular" (HSM) placement. This can be felt or seen under the skin/muscles sometimes as a bulge, especially in thinner patients.
