Re: implant and gym
Unless you are doing something at the gym that risks directly hitting the implant (errant strike in boxing or MMA for example) it shouldn’t affect the lifespan of the implant.
Just wear appropriate protective clothing for the situation (jock strap with a cup for example) and it should be fine.
This question comes up pretty regularly and lots of us are active at the gym without ill effects.

Re: implant and gym
I talked with my urologist and suggested I not continue biking. I was doing indoor biking on a machine for the last three plus years but did try to get a lot of miles - I did 10,000 in a little over three years.
Since surgery I’ve used the elliptical some but settled in on a recumbent bike….the saddle doesn’t present a risk to my tubing/pump but it’s also a much less rigorous workout. But my wife reminds me I’m 67 so maybe I’m where I need to be.
The biggest impact I’ve encountered is that I’m very conscientious of my package standing out. It’s not too bad while on the bike but I’ll do some bench presses or dumbbell curls and my shorts look like I’ve got a raging boner. So I’m constantly moving Mr Eveready (it seemed like an appropriate name after my implant) to make it less conspicuous. I haven’t had a jock since high school but I need something - all suggestions welcome.
I’m on an 8 week break from the gym because I just had ankle surgery…but that’s created a new challenge. I had really gotten comfortable standing by the bed and letting her lay on her back with some pillows under her head. He knees would lay over my arms and this was very comfortable for her back and hips and for my back and shoulder (we’re both 67). Even though she doesn’t like it to go very long she seemed ok with this position and was able to relax and enjoy. But we’re back to just trying find something that’s comfortable for both of us…I google to find new positions and have to convince her I’m not looking at porn!
Anyway, that’s my limited experience at the gym post implant.

Woah - you had a motorcycle accident with the Tactra and didn't have an erosion?

What model implant do you have?
37 years old. In the past, an active and very athletic guy, suffered after vein ligation. After that, I tried embolization, which did not help. Now I am choosing between CX and Titan

My surgeon, Dr. Clavell, has no restrictions on gym or bicycling. I can't imagine that cycling would be much more abuse than walking. I am just 6 weeks out of surgery and have started biking and haven't noticed much interaction w/ the pump or tubes that seems too aggressive or damaging. Was it your urologist, or urologist surgeon, that recommended against riding a bike?
