Today, I managed to get an appointment with my surgeon’s assistant. I described to her my problem. I have a numb dick (at 8 weeks post surgery) without an ability to orgasm. She gave me no new information as to why this is happening or whether there is a chance that it will resolve. She said that she just doesn’t know if it will resolve. I just about lost it when she said that I was a statistical outlier. She set an appointment for me in Sept.
My doctor is Dr Cameron, who is the high volume provider in the Tampa area. When I last saw him and brought up the subject, he just kept repeating that everything is fine.
I just want to explode. If it were not for the encouragement that I received in this forum, I’d probably be standing on top of the Skyway Bridge contemplating my future right now.

Re: End of my rope
yeah im 4 months post op and part of my dick is still numb. I can orgasm though no problem. ive heard it can take a whole year to get feeling back. If they did the cut on the top it literally severs the nerves that go to your dick and they have to grow back. If they did penascrotal you wont have that issue or so im told.

Try using nitric oxide for healing, it opens your blood vessels, moves oxygen throughout. Also it's 8 weeks. Still early.

Re: End of my rope
8 weeks is WAY early.
I'm 23 weeks out and finally I'm getting some feeling back. The underside of my dick was numb - a good portion of it (I'd say 1/2 to 3/4 of the underside of by shaft). I didn't post about it in my thread because I've been down this road before and didn't think much about it. When you experience trauma from surgery (i.e. cutting open) nerves ARE going to get cut. Period. Thats what happens when you cut skin. Now....that being said....getting an implant...even if they don't CUT the nerves where your implant was put in, they can disturb them. I.e. jostle them around and such. This can cause numbness. Nerves take time to heal - a lot longer than you'd expect. I was in an accident in 2012 that caused a huge laceration to my lip / jaw. Part of it is still numb, but the area that DID get its feeling back took a good year if not more. Same with other surgery sites I've had.
Treatment is - well almost nonexistant. Blood flow, oxygenation can help. Think about people with severe spinal injury. Some DO recover, and some don't. In this case prognosis is a bit better as its sensation, and more than likely unless they severed the nerve, you should get sensation back. For severed nerves - there is no magical cure - if there was I wouldn't have had to get an implant after they removed my prostate.
Be patient - give your body time to heal. There is a good chance you will get feeling back - but nothing in life is certain.
Best of luck!

Re: End of my rope
I had surgery on my knee and had no feeling in certain spots for a few years. It slowly came back and today I have feeling back. Nerves, can heel after damage but sometimes can take a while. I would consider taking daily cialis to keep the blood flow down their and encourage heeling.
Age 37. Venous Leakage & Post Finasteride Syndrome (PFS) since age 18.

Re: End of my rope
Osprey_1 & Vitalssk, best wishes to you guys for recovery sooner than later. FWIW, I'm 15 weeks post-op and don't have full sensitivity. Like those who posted above, my expectation is this will improve as I get closer to 6 months post-op -- but I know it could take longer.
