Perito Exercises with AMS?
Perito Exercises with AMS?
I've been pretty happy so far (almost 6 months) in terms of length and girth and I've gotten back to pre-op and maybe 1 cm more. I've been thinking about doing the Perito exercise - I know he recommends for Coloplast Titan but anyone doing on the AMS. Is it advised and safe. What realistically can i expect with improvements in length/girth? I have a CX implant, girth expansion only. thanks in advance
55 year old divorced 10 years, now with new partner, struggling with ED. Tried pills, injections, shock therapy. Implanted 22 Jan 2025 with Dr. Darshan Patel, AMS 700 CX 21 cm + 1 cm.

I have the GLX and my surgeon demonstrated doing them on me at my 6 weeks activation. Sheesh, I thought he was going to break me in two

70 y.o. married from Sydney Oz. PC and nerve sparing RRP 2022, but still profound ED since. Tried pills, injections, shockwave therapy, VED. Finally implanted Mar 6 2025 AMS 700 LGX 21cm x 12mm, no RTEs, MS pump, Penoscrotal.
Recovery going well.

I have the GLX and my surgeon demonstrated doing them on me at my 6 weeks activation. Sheesh, I thought he was going to break me in two. He wanted me to start doing them as part of my cycling regime. So that's what I've been doing for nearly 4 weeks. No issues except discomfort from bending your dick in all directions. But it has become easier and less painful the more often I do it. I don't know that you can predict specific size improvements as we're all different, but I'm hoping to get back to my pre RRP size eventually. So far so good, the combination of fairly aggressive cycling and the Perito exercise seems to be very slowly getting me closer.
thank you very helpful. I've continued cycling which certainly has helped. I asked my surgeon about doing the perito exercises with ams and he said that he does not recommend. With Titan due to the strong single layer construction of the cylinders and the pump design, it's less prone to damage with those maneuvers. The AMS since its multi-layered, he has seen bursting of the outer silicone layer and damage to the release valve in the pump leading to unnecessary revision surgery. He does advocate for it in those that get Titan placed by him though 2-3 months after surgery.

No problem, yes I would always go with what your own surgeon says. Dr Patel has a top notch reputation and his explanation makes sense. It's interesting though that different urologists often have conflicting views. My guy is generally very conservative, so I was a bit surprised that he immediately demonstrated the Perito stuff at my activation and really wanted me doing them. But when I asked about using a VED post op he was emphatically against it, saying he believed it could potentially damage the implant.

Re: Perito Exercises with AMS?
LGXDownunder, my Dr also expressed concern about using a VED post-op. He's very focused on correct sizing. He speculated that a VED might stretch the penis more than the implant could stretch (length), which might result in a less than optimal match between the new stretched length of the penis and the implanted cylinders.
Also, my Dr didn't bring up Perito exercises while discussing cycling. When I asked about them, it led to a discussion about wear and tear, from all sources, on the implant components. His biggest concern with Perito exercises was repetitive spikes in PSI (fluid pressure) affecting the cylinders, tubing, pump valves and connectors. He didn't say "don't do them", but made his concerns clear.

I'm definitely giving the VED a miss Chuck. In any case I seem to be getting good results from cycling alone (though very gradual).
I will continue for now with the Perito exercise until my next post op appointment, then ask about when to stop them.
Yes the concerns are likely around increased wear and tear. I might try going more slowly to reduce the pressure spikes.

very interesting but sent a follow-up message to the doctor.
He said that gentle VED after surgery could be used especially with AMS implants. He thinks due to that woven layer it is more "tunica dependent" is what he describes vs. Coloplast. The Coloplast Titan does most of the heavy lifting with cycling since the material is so stiff and tunica independent. With Coloplast, he doesn't think VED post procedure will make a huge difference. He did caution about keeping vacuum for more than 10 seconds and do more like 10 reps x 10 seconds twice daily, once you've inflated the implant to max. Still chance can damage the tubing coming from the scrotum so he recommends a large silicone cushion and avoid over vacuumming

Thank you, yes that makes sense. TBH I have to admit I'm a bit scared of using a VED at this point, even though I used one daily for almost 2 years pre surgery. As long as I seem to be getting results from cycling I'll stick with that strategy for now, but it's good to know some conservative techniques for VED use that should minimise any risk to the implant.

Ballhog, I didn't do the exact Perito exercise. I did have a lot of pain in my glans when I would cycle after 20 minutes of full inflation for a long time, around 5 to 6 months.
I tried to do the Perito exercise but I just couldn't bend my dick fully inflated in all directions without a lot of pain. I would get in a warm bath tub pump to around 50 to 70 percent and bend my dick in all directions for 5 minutes and then I would pump to the max and see how long I could stay fully inflated without crying uncle. I would do this 3 to 4 times a week while my wife would do her walks in our neighborhood.
It helped a lot with the pain which got better every week. I can't say that I gained any extra centimeters but I did get back to my original length and girth.
I would do this extra and still do my regular cycling twice a day in the shower for 20 minutes each time.
I have the LGX and it didn't harm my implant.
