I had intense pain for at least 3 weeks. Don't worry about it now it's just too soon

Simoxxx wrote:Hi, today is the third day after the surgery and I decided to create a diary to tell how the whole experience was starting from arrival at the hospital until today. ..maybe it can be useful to those who are still undecided about getting an implant or to those who are about to do so. I'll try to update it as the days go by.
Day 1: 7.30 am I arrive at the Columbus clinic in Milan accompanied by my wife, I proceed with the acceptance and room assignment. The clinic looks very good, it looks like a hotel, single room with bed, a sofa bed that can be used for the companion, desk, 50 inch TV, 2 bathrooms (one with shower and bathtub and a classic one). 8.00 am they proceed to do blood tests, create venous access for the drip and measure my blood pressure which they found to be high (first time in my life because I have always had it regular or slightly low... most likely it was high due to my agitation ). 8.20am interview with a doctor for the usual routine questions on health status and privacy information. At 8.40 Dr. Andrea Cocci visited me and will operate on me. He explained the various phases of the operation to me and my wife in broad terms, saying that it will be a simple operation lasting around 30/45 minutes, trying to reassure me as much as possible. I asked him what type of anesthesia he would give me and he replied that I would decide it together with the anesthetist. (I'll start by saying that I'm a little afraid of general anesthesia) 9.00 am interview with the anesthetist who decides to proceed with spinal anesthesia (fall asleep from the waist down). At 9.30 the nurse comes in and proceeds to shave me and make me wear a gown. 10.15 am they take me to the pre-operative room where they give me a sedative intravenously. 10.30 am I enter the operating room, the anesthetist proceeds with the spinal puncture... and after a few minutes the operation begins, I can't see anything but I can hear all the conversations.
The sedative is starting to take effect on me and I'm starting to feel dizzy and sleepy, so I alternate between times when I'm half asleep and others when I'm a little more alert. The surgery is progressing and I don't know how much time has passed, but at a certain point I was alert because I heard the doctor talking to his assistant because he seemed to be having some inconvenience (which I will explain later). The minutes pass and the doctors are still working. I don't know the time but I sense that they have been in the operating room for more than an hour.. The surgery ends and I see Doctor Cocci pass by me, and I ask him if everything is ok? He replies that the surgery went well and he will come to my room to see me later. They take me to my room at 1.15pm, I try to rest but I really struggle. I'm still under anesthesia and the only part that feels sore is where I have the drainage tube, but acceptable pain. 2.30pm they make me drink some water, they put ice on my testicles and tell me that if everything goes well I will finally be able to eat something. 3.30pm I eat some soup, cheese, breadsticks and a cooked apple The anesthesia slowly loses its effect and I feel a general pain in the lower part but still tolerable. I try to rest a bit but I struggle because I'm used to sleeping on my sides and at the moment it's not possible because I have a catheter and drainage tube.
At 4.30pm Doctor Cocci comes to visit me, checks my penis and tells me that it looks good. He tells me that the surgery went well but it took much longer than expected because I had a lot of fibrotic tissue. Your words: it is the first time that with a young patient like you who has venous erectile dysfunction I have found such fibrosis... as if there were an often fibrotic ring. He tells me that he installed 18cm AMS LGX without RTE on me. He told me that he pumped me to 80% and not to worry about the size I see now because now I have no engorgement and then lgx will expand over time by about 25/30% and I will recover my size. My erect size now matches the size my penis was before with a little bit of engorgement (I was hoping to get a little more). I spend the night practically sleepless because of the tubes and the fact that I can't turn on my side and the pain starts to feel... They give me antibiotics and painkillers. Day 2: the pain is there, not only where there is drainage but in the entire part of the testicles and the shaft, the ice relieves the pain a little but it is still felt. I have breakfast, the nurse comes and takes my blood pressure: everything perfect! 9.45am Doctor Cocci arrives to examine me, he says that my penis is fine, it has no bruises and the wound is beautiful... then he proceeds to detach the drainage (painful) and the catheter (annoying). After I urinate on my own they will discharge me. I get up and start walking around the room, pain tolerable.
11.30 am I manage to urinate (strong burning) and proceed to get dressed. I position the shaft of the penis high but it's a bit painful...so I find the most comfortable position, put on the suit and leave the hospital. At home I eat and immediately after go to bed... I place 2 pillows between my legs and finally I can rest lying on my side. I continue to take antibiotics and paracetamol as prescribed... but I don't feel any big changes in terms of pain. I feel improvement when I'm without underwear.. so I wait for my daughter to sleep to go without them. I wake up several times in the night, partly because I am uncomfortable and partly because of the pain. Day 3: I wake up and feel more sore than yesterday.. I have more difficulty walking and the penis in my underwear is sore.

today is day 5 after my implant. last night I woke up in pain and had to take 1000 paracetamol and had to help myself with ice to relieve the pain. Unfortunately, both standing and sitting I feel the pain, and when lying down the position to not feel pain is belly up and legs open. by touch I can feel the pump which is positioned right in the middle of the testicles, but in my opinion perhaps it is a little too low because it forms a third smaller but rigid ball. the wound looks good, I hope the pain goes away but I'm afraid that the paracetamol isn't enough.

good morning guys, I'll update you on my situation. On the sixth day of continuous pain I called Doctor Cocci to ask if all this pain was normal. on the day of my discharge I felt much better, while at home the pain became unbearable. He was very understandable and helpful (I'm happy to have chosen him as my doctor because he left me his private telephone number for any case of need) and prescribed me toradol drops. this drug works very well and makes the pain much more tolerable., I can walk, I can sit in a chair (before it was unthinkable). The improvement is noticeable day by day. today I'm on the twelfth day after surgery and this morning I went out for a short walk without using painkillers. the only drawback is that it is not comfortable to walk around inflated to 70/80%.
I made an appointment for next Tuesday to deflate. I will go to a colleague of Dr. Cocci (on his recommendation) because he is in Texas for a refresher course. then in a few weeks I will see Dr. Cocci who will visit me and show me the inflation/deflation process.

I didn't know that you are kept semi-inflated for (how long?) after surgery. I guess I am in the dark about the post-surgery procedure. Can you summarize it? I am scheduled for June 3.
ED worsened over 25 years, likely VL. Went through pills and injections, and results faded over time. Implant AMS 700CX, 21 cm, no RTE, on 6/3/24.

my doctor kept me at 60% inflated for the first 8 weeks and then deflated me and told me to start playing with it................... if it wasnt for this board i would never have known he meant to cycle it daily
btw everyone say u will get back length and girth during the first year of cycling so i hope so because i am no where near what i was before surgery ( 4 months ago) let alone from a few years ago
surgery done in london ontario jan 2024 at age 71 / titon

each doctor, based on his experiences, establishes the time for which it will have to remain swollen. my doctor said to go and deflate it after 10/14 days. other doctors deflate you the next day... others after a week. I was supposed to go today but I postponed it until next Tuesday

.my post-operative procedure is as follows: inflated during surgery to 70/80%. after 10/14 days we proceed with deflation. approximately 4/5 weeks after the operation the doctor will instruct me on the activation and deflation of the implant.

I also hope to gain back a few centimeters because to date I have lost quite a bit of my size. I was used to seeing my penis in a state of erection with the use of the vacuum plus constricting ring and therefore it is deceiving because all the blood is trapped by the ring and the length increases because the penis is aspirated... but today I am far from my dimensions than before. the doctor reassured me by telling me that having lgx that expands and when I am excited, it will add engorgement and I will be able to recover my size with time. he also told me that in addition to the size I had before, the penis will not grow because the size of the implant is the same. so over time the maximum I will be able to achieve I think will be 20/25% more than my current size. when I go to be instructed on the inflation/deflation phases I will ask if perhaps I can use the vacuum as an exercise to gain a few extra centimeters.

Maybe you should have reached out to the doctor about your pain sooner. No use suffering in silence. Part of the practice of medicine is pain management

new update: on Wednesday 15th May I went to have my blood deflated by Doctor Cocci's assistant. he checked my penis and told me that it was healing well and furthermore he told me that during the operation they had a lot of difficulty inserting the right cylinder because I had a lot of fibrotic tissue. it started deflating, and I had to stop it more than 5 times. the pain was very strong, I think it is the strongest pain I have felt in my life. it was really painful, because the only place that really hurts is right where the deflate button is. even today the most painful area is precisely in the pump area where the deflation button is located. It's been 24 days since the surgery and I can say that the first 15/20 days were really hard. the pain was sustained, and the pain experienced on the day of deflation was beyond all my expectations. from the deflation to today, the pain has decreased and is becoming tolerable and therefore I will soon return to work. I have to schedule a meeting with Dr. Cocci who will instruct me on inflating/deflating the implant, but I will go when the pump area no longer hurts. I prefer to wait a few more weeks and be fine, rather than go there and still suffer pain during the inflation/deflation phase because to date that area is still sore.

Thanks for the update!!!

At the end of your journey you will said to us if Cocci is a top surgeon and you will 100% satisfied.

Will be great to have an option in italy over Antonini, that is very expensive (but he is a top surgeon in Europe)
