How long to wait after surgery?

Postby Alex Lee » Tue Jul 12, 2022 5:30 am

Hey Team:

I'm four months out from having bladder and prostrate removed. I had one nerve bundle spared, and the doctor put me on 5mg of cialis daily and said I have a 50% chance of regaining my erections. I am in a new relationship and desperately want to get back to things. I'm using a pump and injections. The injections work, but for some reason the medicine burns like hell the entire hour. That said, my penis seems to be reacting to them and I've been getting semi-semi-erections. Definite progress but not good enough for sex. So.... I'm looking into implants.

My question is: Is it too early? Would you think that six months is long enough to wait for an implant or should I give it more time?

Any input along these lines will be greatly welcomed.

Hey Alex,
I had a similar experience. I could see partial erections that were not enough for sex at all, and it continued to be same for more than 3 years after my prostate removal. I lost a lot of length during these 3 years. I didn't know about implants at that time, or maybe they sounded weird to me. Do, didn't even try to look them up, which I regret a lot.
I don't want to rush you into implant surgery, but if you if you decided to, no need to wait. You would probably lose length and girth while waiting. Some men did the implant less than 6 months after prostate removal.

Please also keep on using a VED and low dose of Cialis/Viagra, to prevent shrinkage and maintain your size.

Well the easy answer is that if your doctor says you're ready then you are. The harder answer would have to take into consideration too many variables for this small section to cover. One thing you may want to think about is that whenever they removed your prostate your penis was shrunk by at least one inch and possibly up to 2. You may seriously want to continue using vacuum therapy until you regain a respectable length. Because whatever you take into the i p p operation is all you can hope to get back. The second thing is that the longer you wait the more permanent your shortness becomes. Unless of course you AR daily restretching using vacuum therapy
