CX Auto Inflation
CX Auto Inflation
I seem to be having a problem with my new AMS CX implant. I'm just 2 months out. After deflating and squeezing the fluid out of my penis, in about 60 seconds, it has inflated some and sticks out straighter than I like. Maybe 20% inflated. It doesn't matter how many times I apply pressure to force out the saline, it refills. I understand a scar tissue capsule probably formed around the reservoir while I was 70% inflated the 2 weeks following surgery and it forces fluid back into my dick. Here's my idea, but I don't know if it's a good or bad one: After deflating, could I reset the valve to inflate and just leave it that way? Would that keep the fluid in the reservoir, and maybe stretch the capsule it is in stretch out some? Would this be damage my implant? Thought I would ask the group before calling the doctor. Otherwise, this thing is amazing!

I'm not sure your are having a problem, I too have the CX and for the first little while, and not really sure when I stopped noticing it stuck out more than my totally natural penis. I think this had more to do with the larger "flaccid" state than anything. i wear scrubs for work and I never really noticed anything sticking out more once I get dressed.
I also haven't noticed mine auto inflating at all, generally I press the valve until it clicks and it goes down, sometimes I don't even squeeze it just pull on my briefs, and go. I do give it a squeeze if I'm going to be riding my bicycle as it makes it easier to find a comfortable spot for it and the "3 boys".
I do notice some fullness in it but I think when I squeeze out the the saline I squeeze out blood as well and the natural tissues rebound and give it some fullness. Again once I get dressed noting is really sticking out and I for the most part don't wear the flat front briefs like traditional tighty-whites. I found briefs with pouches to be the most comfortable for me.
I never got the idea that I had to "reset" the valve by giving it a quick pump after deflation, I guess I felt that the pop I feel when inflating is the valve opening from the reservoir to the cylinders and the pressing to deflate mode moves the saline back into the reservoir. and the fluid can only go one way. Maybe I've been doing it wrong but it works for me.
I still get the "dog ears" and at times depending on the color of my briefs or the pouch I can see lumps from the cylinders, These were a little irritating at first but that went a way. Sometimes when I pull on my speedo trucks for lap swimming I give it a couple of pumps to smooth things out and again I don't pump it enough to stand out just gives a more rounded or normal looking bulge.

It might not be auto-inflation. If you squeeze again, do you hear the buzzing as the fluid is pushed back through the pump's check-valve and into the reservoir? If not, you may be experiencing tissue re-expansion. I posed a theory to the high-volume doctor I consulted at 3 months for my second opinion on my surgical results and recovery, and he agreed with my theory stating that I was correct:
Theory: The implant when inflated, compresses any viable erectile tissues remaining in the corpora and causes them to recede. Upon deflating fully, my penis gets very thin and loosely flaccid but over a few minutes it will plump back up to a degree. That is the compressed tissues in the corpora "re-inflating" (filling with blood or relaxing) and filling out the penis. Between those relaxed/semi-inflated tissues and the implant cylinders, it adds a bit of slight rigidity.
If you hear buzzing when you try to squeeze out any further saline after "auto-inflation", it may very well be auto-inflation. Also, you may not be getting all saline out the first time so the expansion of tissues assists in pushing the remainder out when you squeeze again. After I plump up following deflation, I may get a little buzz the first time but none afterward because there was just a little remaining saline that I hadn't gotten the first time.

The answers you have received so far are spot-on.
I add that calling the AMS/Boston Scientific Patient Liaison would be cheaper (free, as the PL is paid by the manufacturer to help patients, especially new patients achieve maximum satisfaction with their implants) than calling your surgeon. Also, the PL often has more detailed practical knowledge than the surgeon who implanted the device. They have different areas of focus. The surgeon concentrates on keeping you uninfected and properly installing the device and has little to do with actually operating the device. The PL has only peripheral focus on the surgery, but major incentive to help with actually operating the device and living with it.
Use that resource. The PL often has undocumented knowledge. And has more time to spend with you on the phone talking you through your questions.

Thanks a lot guys! Makes me feel better, and everything you bring up seems logical. Lost Sheep: I may still call the AMS rep. He was terrific before surgery. Wayne: I do hear the buzz when I deflate, but not when I am squeezing the fluid out, so I think you are right. Quester: I was out most of the day wearing underwear and jeans. I noticed when I got home and took off my clothes, my dick was hanging pretty much straight down. I'm naked or nearly so most of the time at home, so I hadn't paid attention, but did today.
Again, thanks!

Hi Steve, 3 months out here. When deflating fully including squeezing the cylinders to get the last bit of pressure/saline out my penis looks uneven (not straight) along the shaft. This fills back out over a few minutes or so. Flaccid points at around 4-5 o'clock. As others have replied I think this is normal for the implant. I'm not too sure wether my implant could point to 6 o'clock over time?
Cheers boots.

Boots, I am almost exactly a month behind you. Everything you say, describes my experience exactly! 4 o'clock seems to be his favorite angle. I have no idea if 6 o'clock is in my future, and not worried. It was the re-engorging I was worried about, hoping there wasn't an issue. I'm going with the no problem here plan.

I would auto inflate a bit right after my first implant. Not right away but over an hour or so and I did do the pump to pop the valve to inflate mode and this did help me. I did have discomfort with my reservoir after surgery also. So you can try it and see if it helps. But I had an LGX and not a CX so yours may be different. Good luck.

Re: CX Auto Inflation
If I want it completely deflated, I squeeze it flat then squeeze the pump one quick pump. That locks the valve into pump mode. Saline fluid will not flow into implant unless bulb is squeezed. If I don't do that mine grows back to the 4 o'clock semi hard.
