I'm not a medical professional and nothing I post should be taken as medical advice. Always consult your doctor and follow his/her advice.
With the volume of meds I receive per order (10 one ml vials), at the current strength of my meds (alprostadil @ 80mg per ml), and my current rate of consumption (8 to 12 units), my meds last almost 6 months. I keep them frozen and thaw one vial long enough to draw out a dose. It usually doesn't freeze solid even when in the freezer but occasionally it does solidify. Some pharmacies dispense 5ml at a time and generally charges the same per order as those dispensing 10ml, therby being twice as expensive. I think is to get a mix as strong as possible so that it lasts longer. Of course it must be a mix that you can releably administer a dose that's the appropriate amount for you. I would think 4 or 5 units would be about the minimal volume to administer reliably.

I have kept vials in the freezer for over a year with no apparent loss of effectiveness. I thaw the vial and then load 8 to 10 pins, and then return the vial to the freezer. It works beautifully.
