Review: Talon Compounding Pharmacy in San Antonio

Postby Cigar56 » Sun May 07, 2017 9:25 am

I recently got superior service from Talon Compounding Pharmacy in San Antonio. They ship custom-blended Trimix to most states -- except mine (Florida). However, I had a trip planned to Dallas and arranged for them to overnight two vials to me to a UPS store close to the AirBnb where I was staying.

The whole process went off without a hitch. I sent them the paper prescription from my doctor about four days ahead of my trip, and when I arrived in Dallas I called on a Wednesday to place the order. Talon custom-blended the order to my doc's specs and shipped the next day. I tracked the delivery online and picked it up within an hour of it arriving at the UPS store.

The price for the two vials was about a third of what compounding agencies in Florida are charging, which is why I wanted to purchase from Talon.

Hope this helps somebody.
I've tried everything -- pills, injections pumps -- and now I am at the final frontier.

One thing I will say is they are fantastic. Always get mine within three days of ordering. I'm in New York.

Their service to Oregon has been spectacular for me for the last couple of years. Timely deliver. Price always in the neighborhood of $100 for 10 ml. At my dosage level, that works out to well under $2 per injection.

Coastal in WPB is reasonable. $120 for 10 1ml vials (10ml total). http://www.coastalcompoundingpharmacy.com/

I get 10ml of alprostadil @ 80mg per ml for the $120. They said the price is the same for trimix. A deal compared to Hobbs Drugs on Merritt Island (https://hobbsrx.com/), another compounder, that charges, I think, $110 for 5ml @ 20mg per ml. Both places are staffed by very nice people BTW.

Those are great prices.
My pharmacy in San Diego California charges about $120.00 for 5ml in 2 x 2.5 vials.
I wish it was one vial, because of loss when the vial is empty.
But you guys are getting 10ml for the same price?....

I need to check out those other pharmacy's.

I manage to get pretty near everything out of the 1ml vials. Besides, Coastal tells me they put a little extra in each vial knowing you won't get it all.

I freeze them all. I don't know about the trimix but my "monomix" never actually freezes in the freezer so there is no wait to fill the syringe, although I do let whats in the syringe come up to room temp before injecting. I don't claim to be an expert on this. Until recently I was using Edex until that was no longer an affordable option. It didn't need refrigeration as it was a dry powder before use.

Thanks.
Talon just got back to me. They are not licensed in California.... :) so not an option anyway.

I may be stuck with expensive TriMix. But will see.

What Pharmacy do you use in San Diego? University Compounding? That's the one I use ...2ea 2.5 Ml vials
for around $130 shipped. Well packaged in ice packs. I don't hastle the price, since I use very little, 12 units per injection. Lasts me almost a year. Store it frozen and thaw each time.
