Price Of Trimix, where do you buy?

Postby Richard1954 » Tue Sep 20, 2016 3:31 pm

Well my insurance does not pay anymore so it is important to get a good price.
I live in VA, one time my dr had a prescription come from CA. By the time it got here it was warm.
I think it was $55 for the TriMix 5ml (10/30/10) and $60 or so for the shipping  .

This time I ordered from Wedgewood out of NJ.
I received Trimix 5 ml (50/30/1 stronger that the one above) for $119.50 plus $10 for 2 day shipping. This also came with syringes and alcohol wipes but my dr had to include this in the prescription. Good Service, I ordered on Monday 9:30am and received on Tuesday around 2:30pm. Came in a small cooler with ice packs and was still very cold, nice job.

On a side note I called Talon but at this time they could not ship to VA.

Anyway I thought I would ask where are you getting your best price and thoughts on where else I should check.
Thanks Guys.

Prostaglandin 20 <rigidness> other names Prostaglandin E1, PGE1 Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1)

Caverjet = Alprostadal = PGE-1. Different names/forms, but same medication.

Rigidness is mostly due to the PGE-1

Like others here I deal with Talon.

Initially I got my trimix from my uro's office, at a price of $100 for an odd quantity of slightly less than 5 ml. Ouch.

Talon is in San Antonio. I'm in Oregon. My last order brought 10 ml at $99 in a styrofoam container with an ice-pack. The price included shipping. Always overnight delivery. Never a problem with a warm prescription vial. I think their price may vary slightly depending on shipping distance. Not sure if there's any price variation depending on strength of a particular trimix formulation.

I buy my syringes and alcohol swabs online, where good competitive prices are easy to find.

I also order from Wedgewood and have received superior customer service each time.

I started ordering from Wedgewood with good results, but had to switch when Caremark stopped coverage due to a dispute over costing details.

I now use Avella in Phoenix which charges $80, including shipping, for 10 ml.

Very good information.
Please more men jump in, this is great info for all of us as more and more insurance comp are not paying anymore.

The one problem I had was some pharmacy would not even price the Trimix to me without my doctors prescription. I hated to have the dr go to the trouble calling in a prescription and then to find out it was higher that some others then go back to the dr and ask him to call in prescription to another pharmacy.

Thanks again to all that have wrote in and would like to hear from more.

I was introduced to TriMix a couple of months ago from a Men's Clinic. Although it took a couple of formulations to get the "Goldilocks" dose. (No too hard, not too soft) Trimix has been life changing. The one thing is I think I am paying way too much for what I am getting. Comes out to be $25 a dose and I am at 25 units per injection. I am reading that others are buying direct form the Compounding Pharmacy at $100 a 10 ML bottle (1000 units). That same 10ML bottle has 40 injections at my dosage will cost me 40 X $25 or $1000. Something doesn't seem right. Also the Men's Clinic will not write a prescription because they obviously want to keep the medication sales. Any advise on what I need to do to get my TriMix direct form the Compounding Pharmacy? Do I need to see another uro, what information does the compounding pharmacy need to emulate the "secret recipe" that they have formulated just for me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Paul,

From many previous posts here on FT, a goodly number of those so-called "men's clinics" are highway robbers in storefronts.

Find a mainstream uro who regularly prescribes trimix (not all of them do). If you're in or near a reasonably large city, you might mention the city in another memo here. Perhaps one of the FrankTalk regulars also lives in your city and could give you the name of a prescribing doc there.

An alternative would be to find a compounding pharmacy that produces the stuff and ask them for the names of couple of docs who regularly prescribe it.

At the price you're paying, even if you have to do a couple of doctor office visits to get over this hurdle, you're going to be money ahead in the long run. (My last 10 ml. vial at my dosage worked out to be $2.02 per injection.)

Originally, I went to a uro who provided the trimix at a good but not great price. When I learned about the cheaper mail-order prices, I asked him to forward my prescription to Talon. He didn't even blink. Fully cooperative. And he's still my doc. (I'm not sure, but I think most ethical docs believe they should not stand in the way of a patient who can find a better prescription price.)

Thank you Once a Writer. I live west of St. Louis, MO. I am sure there is doc or two that would write the prescription around here but any help from the board would be appreciated. Don't get me wrong I probably would have never learned about TriMix, had I listened to the Men's Clinic commercials and decided to give it try. I am grateful that they were able to provide me with something that literally has changed my life. I would have NEVER thought that an injection would be so simple and painless in that area. I'll give them their "finders" fee. Just don't want to continue to overpay 10X - 20X more than I should. Unfortunately I paid for 100 doses (yes $2500), so I'll have several months before I'll need more. Just would like to get all my ducks in a row.
