how many visits till you got your script

Postby steelhack » Sat Oct 31, 2015 11:58 am

I'm a 43 year old type 2 diabetic. .. cialis just gave me back pain, and viagra only gave me about a 5 erection and only about half the time. This group has given me the hope and courage to try injections. My doc appointment is Monday. I unfortunately do not have insurance. . So it's going to be out of pocket every time I walk into the urologist office.... my question is how many visits was typical before a script was written?

Also. .. any one else from Ohio? What pharmacy did you use?

I got my first prescription on the first visit. It was pretty weak and had to be changed when I finished it off.
I'd explain your financial situation with the doc on the first visit also.
Check out some of the posts about some mail order compounding pharmacies.

If you've tried cialis and viagra, the urologist should give you an injection prescription. However, many uro's will first try to prescribe PGE-1 (Caverject) instead of Trimix as that's the only penile injection drug that Big Pharma makes money on. Therefore, it's the only one actively promoted to the docs. PGE1 (Caverject) is very expensive ($10/shot if no ins) and for many it's pretty painful. Trimix is usually painless and is much, much cheaper.

Try to talk your uro into starting with Trimix right off the bat. He might give you the Big Pharma scripted talk about the dangers of compounding pharmacies. I've used compounding pharmacies for 15 years - they're great. Just nod, ignore the warning, and request the Trimix prescription, again.

The starting mix (which still works great for me) is 30 papaverine; 1 phentolamine; 10 alprostadil (PGE1). Insurance usually won't pay for Trimix anyway because it is compounded at the pharmacy, but it doesn't really matter. Trimix is less than $.20/shot. Try Talon Pharmacy in San Antonio. They are probably going to be the least expensive for you. 10cc vial should be less than $100. I get mine at The Medicine Shoppe in Belton, Tx and a 10cc vial is $89, but I don't know if they ship. Talon does.

Go ahead and get an Inject-Ease. It will make the injections quick and painless. You won't even see the needle. You'll love it.

Get a 100 count box of 31guage, 5/16" needle, 30 unit insulin syringes. At The Medicine Shoppe, a 100 box of syringes was only $13.50. If you get a 10cc vial from Talon, that should give you at least a hundred shots. I started out shooting 5 units, but that wasn't quite enough. I've found 6-7 units gives me a great erection that lasts for over an hour. A lot of guys start out shooting 10-12units, but I'd recommend start out with 5 units and work up from there.

I'd, also, stop by CVS and pick up some generic 30mg sudafed. If you have an erection lasting too long, it will help bring it down. If you need it, take 4-5 pills .

Good luck.

Implanted AMS CX 700 11/15 by Dr. Morey in Dallas (botched). 6/16 - Surgery by Dr. Kansas in Austin to correct the mistakes. Works great now. Very pleased!

I've had mixed results with the 5/16" needle. Right now, I must use the 1/2incher. Willy is developing a pretty tough wall. Maybe try to get a small qty of each needle?
My uro never mentioned the Caverjet, but did gently try to steer me toward an implant. That is a big money maker for him.

Hi Steelhack,

Let us know how your visit with the urologist goes. One thing you'll learn once you start using Trimix is that the drug affects many of us in different ways. Some guys may need only 5-10 units (a few drops) of the drug for fantastic results, but others (including me) may need up to 100 units. That means your cost per shot may not be the same as the next guy's. The good thing is that you're sure to save a bundle over pills, no matter how much Trimix you need.

Good luck!

Just got back....was not anything really....We talked about my diabetes...and how that can cause ED.....said 60 to 70% of diabetics start to have some form of ED by the time they are 50..so at 43...I am just starting a little early....we discussed my financial circumstances....I think he was leaning towards big pharma until he realized money.....he then wrote me a script for generic viagra....and is sending a script for trimix to a compounding pharm in the Akron area....said hopefully Ill have it by next week. We discussed the injection, and he felt comfortable with my knowledge....combo of insulin and the help of this forum.......told me that I can schedule another visit and he can show me how to inject if I have any questions....that was pretty much it....while I have read many on here talk of their Uro going straight to implant...he did not....although I think he did try and plant the seed a little......said...eventually...pills stop working....eventually injections will too..then I would have to consider an implant.

that was it...was about 25 minutes to get in...10 minutes waiting for him....10 minutes of conversation.

Now I just wait for the compounding pharm to contact mean arrange payment and shipping

My best tip on giving yourself the first injection is to look closely when you insert the needle to make sure you miss visible veins.
Next is to insert the needle slowly. I tried to put it in way too fast and that was a mistake. You should feel the needle hit resistance, then get a bit easier to insert. That usually means you're in the ball park. I also recommend pulling back on the plunger a bit to see if a bit of blood goes into the syringe. Sometimes it doesn't happen and you're still in the right place. You also may fail to get into the cavernosa and get no results. It really is a learning experience. It helps if you can conjure up a partial erection to help things out.
Good luck with this and I hope it works for you.
