Edex Injections

Postby maxkohn » Sun Apr 05, 2015 11:54 am

Anyone have any success with Edex inections? I have not had an erection since my prostate cancer surgery. So far, these injections haven't work but we're still on low doses. We are slowly increasing the dose monthly when i visit the urologist. Has anyone had any success and at what strength of Edex?

Max,

I hope you get a good prescription discount on your Edex syringes. The cost of those are so high it makes Cialis prices look GOOD.

I am sure your doc loves to use them -- putting his kids thru college with the profits on each of those.

I suppose you might be using a 10mcg version if you say it was not too strong? Very expensive way to be 'trying them out' compared to just having him prescribe a big vial of 20mcg/ml PGE-1 solution and trying that at varying levels. If you get no response or get good response and no ache then you have not spent a fortune (and just days of time not months) finding out.

Max,

I use prostaglandin E1 which is basically what Edex and Caverject are , raised the strength from 20 to 40 mcg and have had great results even reducing my minimum dose from .5 to .3.

Everyone is different. I have been using Caverject/Viridal (Edex) which is PGE1 for almost 3 years. Trimix is not available in UK but our NHS provides me with 4 X 40mcg each month. I need about 25mcg for about 1 hour firm erection. In trials the average dose was 21.8mcg. The big advantage of PGE1 is that priapism and fibrosis is much less prevalent. I am lucky and do not get ache from PGE1.

Everyone is indeed different. Edex never worked for me at all, in any dose. No luck with other injectables, either, so I got an implant.

I have had a bad track records of surgeries in the past so I'm trying very hard to avoid another surgery. As it's not reversible, that's another thing to think about. I want to keep using injections until I get to the maximum dose. My partner (female) is in menopause and has no libido so there's no rush to any decision. I just wanted peoples' experiences with Edex injections. I'm in no hurry for any more surgeries. Thanks for all the replies.

I had my prostate surgery in September 2010, and started using the Edex kit in December of the same year. My current dosage is .40 ml and erection easily last 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Initially it gave me an ache, but I continued usage and it went away. Granted, we are all Men, however our reactions to these different meds vary. You have to be patient and vary your doseage until you find what works for you. Don't give up, and good luck.

I'm not about to give up. I know there's a long way to go in increasing my Edex dosage. I'll keep until we get to the max and if that doesn't work, then maybe we'll try a different injection. My partner and I are looking to avoid implant surgery. I don't have good luck with surgery.

Max, are you getting any erection? I'm at 20mcg caverject and get "expansion pain". Not sure that is correct term. I'm at 75% erect for 45 mins. Is this something you experience?

thanks

I just lost my job so my urologist visits had to stop. When I get health insurance again, I'll see him again and we can increase the Edex injection dose but as of now, I'm not getting any erections at all.
