Hi, I have a couple packs of 10mcg Caverject with expiry date marked 05/2025.

Is it safe to use it after expiry date?

My knowledge of many pharma products is that they don't actually lose power over time if they are kept sealed in their original unopened box.

I have no experience with Caverject.

I do have experience with Edex the Caverject competitor. It comes in a two part cartridge with the alprostadil (PGE1) in one part looking like a dry white powder in cylindrical form and bacteriostatic saline in the other part separated by a rubber plug. Prior to injection you push the plunger which pushes the saline into the side with the alprostadil, which immediately dissolves into the saline.

I have used Edex cartridges that were expired for years. If there was anything that looked discolored or off in any way before or after combining the two sides I'd trash it. It has never looked off. It does stay in an airconditioned environment.

That was not a recomendation or advice. It was just my experience with Edex. Ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Most of the injection meds require refrigeration, and state a 90 day expiration date.

HOWEVER, I have been using Trimix for years, and have never had it "go bad" or stop working no matter how long it sat, as long as it's refrigerated. I'm finishing up a vial now that I have been using for almost a year, no change in results. The PA at my urologist's office actually said to me "yeah it says 90 days, but in reality if it's refrigerated and doesn't look cloudy or off, it will last almost indefinitely.

I also used Edex previously and yeah because it's in dry form in the injector that will last a really long time.
