Trimix formula downgraded

Postby happycamper59 » Tue Feb 20, 2024 11:28 am

I just requested a refill for Trimix 30/2/40 and uro nurse informed me the pharmacy no longer makes that strength, so I am getting 30/1/20. Kind of a bummer. I was shooting about 10-15 ml prior to cancer/chemo (2023). Shot 20 ml this past weekend with 30/2/40 and it was so-so. How far should I go up with the downgraded formula? My needles only go up to 30 ml.

The good news is that I see the uro in one month to schedule an implant, so this is hopefully no long-term issue. If it was, I would likely be asking for another pharmacy!

Ooops. I meant 10-15 units and 20 units above, not ml!

That is a pretty big downgrade in the mix. I wouldn't know what to tell you to try. We have no way of knowing which drug you were mostly responding to. Generally the alprostadil is the heavy hitter in the mix and they cut that in half. Did the doctor's office have a recommendation?

Try a different compounding pharmacy?

The uro nurse only recommended same dose. Which is troubling. That is 0.5-ml.
I ordered two (I think they are 2-ml vials each)... and that is hopefully the last I'll need.
Otherwise, yes, I would seek out a mail-order pharmacy. This one is local.
