Tri-Mix: Strength vs Dosage

I had seen this info somewhere else in another posted topic, but thought it would be helpful to post it again. These formulas are shown in the USMed documents…………..

Prescription strength defined by the mixture of the three drugs to create a single Rx.

Tri-Mix Single (5.9mcg/17.65mg/0.59mg)/mL appears to be the most popular starting Rx prescribed by most doctors.

Trimix is comprised of (alprostadil/papaverine/phentolamine)/mL respectively. We generally put trimix in categories based on ‘standard’ concentrations or ‘low alprostadil’ concentrations. Here are the available standard and low alprostadil concentration groups also listed in order from the weakest to the strongest within each group:

STANDARD TRIMIX:
Trimix #5 (10mg/30mg/1mg) /mL
Trimix #8 (20mcg/30mg/2mg) /mL
Trimix #15 (40mcg/30mg/2mg) /mL
Trimix #9 (40mcg/30mg/4mg) /mL
Trimix #13 (60mcg/30mg/6mg) /mL
Trimix #16 (100mcg/30mg/6mg) /mL

Alprostadil causes an aching sensation in the penis in about 20% of men who use it. Although it is harmless, the pain may interfere with enjoyment of the erection, and your doctor may change your prescription to a low alprostadil trimix.

LOW ALPROSTADIL TRIMIX:
Trimix #14 (2.5mcg/30mg/1mg) /mL
Trimix #6 (2.5mg/30mg/4mg) /mL
Trimix #7 (5mg/30mg/4mg) /mL
Trimix #11 (7.5mcg/30mg/4mg) /mL
Trimix #12 (10mcg/30mg/4mg) /mL

Dose is defined as the amount of the Rx prescribed. Most doctors start their patients with a starting dose of 5 to 10 units, and advising them to increase the dose by 5 units each injection until a satisfactory erection is achieved. This process of increasing each dose until satisfaction is accomplished is referred to as titration.

Syringe and Dose Volume
ICI medications are injected into the penis using a very small needle, the same type of needle and syringe diabetics use to inject insulin. The syringe is the plastic part of the device that holds the liquid. Printed gradations on the syringe allow you to measure a certain volume (amount) of liquid (your dose). Syringes are available in 3 different volumes: Syringes that hold 30 units (0.3mL), 50 units (0.5mL), and 100 units (1.0mL). A milliliter (mL) is the same as a cubic centimeter (cc) so you may see both abbreviations.

0.3mL = 0.3cc = 30 units
0.5mL = 0.5cc = 50 units
1.0mL = 1.0cc = 100 units

Needle Size
The needle is the shiny silver part of the device that punctures the skin. The needle sizes vary in two dimensions, gauge and length. Gauge refers to the thickness of the needle (the diameter). Common gauges for penile injection, in order of thickest to thinnest are 27 gauge, 29 gauge, 30 gauge, and 31 gauge. 31 gauge is the thinnest needle in this example and 27 gauge is the thickest. All of these gauges are very thin needles. You might be thinking you want the thinnest needle, but the thinner the needle is, the more likely it will bend.

The most common needle lengths for penile injection are 5/16-inch (8mm) or ½-inch (12.7mm). You might be thinking you want the shortest needle, but your doctor may have chosen a specific length based on how you were trained and your anatomy and/or pathology. The injection technique may vary slightly based on the length of the needle. You shouldn’t think of the 2 length options as interchangeable without some coaching. Your doctor may have a strong preference for the type of needle you should use based on the doctor’s experience or your anatomy and/or pathology.

Thanks and great summary. I’m learning every day on this board.

At 10/12/1 my formula seems to be an outlier with low Papaverine. Whatever, it works fine now that I’ve fine tuned to dose at 15 units and gotten better at injection technique; precision of location and angle seems to be the key along with post injection massage followed by stimulation while things take effect.

My move to injections was somewhat optional as the pills still worked but only at a dose that was annoying and left me with lethargy and malaise afterwards. This is fantastic to be free of those side effects not to mention having a bigger, fuller erection.

Wife is cumming now with sheet-clenching orgasms like that girlfriend you had in college.

Really hoping this is sustainable.

Pretty detailed information. Although I don't think the mixes are standard they are a good reference. Can you please cite the link to the original document?

Thanks. It seems like mostly good information. Just note that the listed mixes are specific to the compounding pharmacy they are associated with.

Hi bldoink,

yes ............... I've been amazed that compounding the RX can be different from pharmacy to pharmacy. I use Stanley. I can only assume they are doing a good job for me.

I've been posting info such as this because of such little info I got from my doctor. Finding all this on my own since my doctor never told me.

Thank you for posting this helpful information. Interesting the recommendation of injecting a certain distance away from your body and penis head.

brian: Thanks for that great summary!

I don't know if scarring is real or imaginary, and there seems to be no consensus about this on FT, but I use 31 gauge needles everywhere that I can, and I'm careful to insert plumb, so there's no bending. I need a 1/2 in. (13mm) needle at two locations, so I have to go up to 30 gauge there.
