How long does vial stay good in freezer?

Postby Rufian » Sun Oct 08, 2023 8:46 pm

I use Olympia Pharmacy and they only let you order 2 vials minimum which sucks as I don't use them that often.

My vials say prescribed in July and to be disposed of on October 1. Basically 3 months.

but since I'm single and only use it a few times. I only used one vial and is not empty yet, there is a little left and it already says to be disposed of on Oct 1st.

I kept them in the freezer the whole time. I only opened one, the other one is still sealed and has been in the freezer all the 3 months. The opened one, I did keep it in the fridge maybe one or two days before use and then put it back in the freezer.

Should just use the unopened vial as normal and once I'm about to run out, then reorder 2 vials more?

I have 3 refills left until July 2024 before I need to pay the doctor's telehealth appointment again for more refills lmao each refill means 2 vials

Maybe they put the 3 months disposal so you order more?

The literature says it can last 3 to 6 months

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2392467 ... 20possible.

Here it says, though it seems to be for aprostadril only

Frozen at -20 deg C and -70 deg C, less than 5% loss of any of the drug componenets occurred in 6 months. A beyond-use date of 6 months when stored frozen at -20 deg C and 1 month when stored refrigerated at 4 deg C is appropriate for batches of the injection that have passed sterility testing. Room temperature exposure should be limited, and the vial should be returned to refrigeration as soon as possible.

My freezer is set to 0 degrees F

I get 4 vials from my pharmacy and have kept them all frozen until I use it. Right after I draw the needed amount, I put the vial back in the freezer. I used the first 4 vials for 14 months before i had to break into the next 4. I only noticed a small drop in efficacy in a vial when I had about 4 injections left. Others say it lasts just as long being refrigerated but I don’t want to test that.

My experience is with alprostadil mono-mix only. I've used my mix that has been frozen for over a year. It seemed nearly as strong as when new. I've had no known issues, at least none that I've noticed.

I have been ordering from Olympia pharmacy for years now and I find if the vial is kept frozen sometimes it lasts close to a year. Trimix is made as you know by compound pharmacies and whatever it takes to make the stuff I've had vials last a year...and some vials start to loose their potency at 6 months..I think sometimes the Trimix ingredients may be mixed slightly differently or the individual medication in the Trimix have their own expiration dates that may impact the Trimix. Generally I've had good results for 6 months while keeping the vial in the freezer. When I first get delivery of the vial I pre-draw about 6 syringes before the initial freeze, then I freeze the vial and pre-loaded syringes. I remove 1 syringe at a time as I use it and keep the others frozen until use.I repeat that way of loading syringes as needed. I too am single and only inject about once a week...but Trimix in my experience is dependent on the same factors that exist without Trimix...in other words, your mood, tiredness, alcohol, anxiety, etc. If I'm really horny and with my GF it works like rocket fuel. If I have some performance anxiety, it's less effective..but I can still get hard enough for penetration. AND using a cock ring really helps...I've injected for some 10 years now and that's the patterns I've noticed using Trimix.

Mine seemed to last about a year. Olympia as well. I have noticed that it loses some strength when it goes past that but hopefully not much will be left. I found out by accident how durable it is when I travelled a couple of years ago. I had the cold vial inside an ice pack and in my checked luggage. Well, the checked luggage showed up two days late and I used the Trimix that night and all was well.

My trimix has lasted well past 18 months on two occasions. I keep it in the freezer unless needed. I’ve also travelled with prefilled syringes in an insulin cooler case and, despite long travel days, I’ve always gotten firm erections when injected.

I keep mine in the freezer and make 10 frozen syringes at the same time. I take out 3 per week. We average 2x a week, but sometimes we are bold and go for 3. Last year around this time, I was using about 3-4 units with great results, but it's now taking about 6-8 to get the same. That worries me a little, because if this continues to double every year, I will be seeing "implant" sooner than I think.

TL;DR -- freezing it is fine and it lasts a long time. I'm still using a bottle from last year. I got a fresh one in a smaller quantity to "travel" with and both produce the same result.

8 units is nothing and you can increase much more than that..You should have many more years of successful injections before you go the implant route.
