Trimix Prescription Tweak?

Postby PundaSmith » Mon Aug 29, 2022 2:32 pm

Hello,

I have been a regular Trimix user - for about 6 yrs. Tablets stopped working, and VL is suspected.

Here is my current formulation: (Papaverine: 30/Phentolamine: 5mg /PGE1: 40). I only get a response (hard erection with a ring). And due to pain from the 40mcg PGE, I only able to tolerate a lower dosage (~ 0.10ml).

1. I want to be able to use the injection without the ring, if at all possible.
2. I also want to try a new formulation that induces less pain, and can allow me to increase the volume, if needed, so that I can use the medication without the ring.

What formulation would you suggest? I am thinking of decreasing the PGE1 from 40mc to 25mcg so I can inject more. I would appreciate your thoughts !

/Punda

This is a PDF from a compounding pharmacy that describes the mix ingredients and suggests ways to adjust your mix. I think it's a pretty good PDF but I have no experience with the pharmacy (www.wedgewoodpharmacy.com) so this is not a pharmacy endorsement. Also keep in mind that the PGE is the ingredient reportedly least likely to cause damage.

What do you not like about wearing the ring? have you tried other rings? How do you wear them?

Oh well, here's the PDF:

PS: Thanks - I am reviewing the document now - I had it saved from a previous discussion

Please, what do you mean by "least likely to cause damage? Scarring?

I wear them at the base. Wifey does not like it rubbing against her.

I don't have the links to cite the papers but some studies have indicated that the PGE ingredient of tri-mix was the least likely to cause fibrosis and scaring. I don't think any of the injection drugs are entirely risk free. However, I seem to be doing well after about 11 years of using alprostidal (PGE) mono-mix.

I wear the ring around my dick behind the boys. My wife also complained about rings rubbing her when I was using thicker rings. I then went to a thinner ring although not the thinnest. No more problems.

Good luck.

Wedgewood is a great compounding pharmacy - for veterinary medicine. I don't know if they even product any human drugs any more.

Is that "switching guide" for real? I'm pretty new to Trimix, failed on 8.3 mcg PGE-1, didn't do great on 20 mcg, recently got 40 mcg PGE-1 (2 mg phento 30 mg Papa) per ml and it took 20 units to get something resembling where I used to get on 100mg Viagra years ago. If 5.88 mcg/ml PGE-1 is considered "standard" I don't know why my body takes this much to respond. I hope I can convince my local uro to actually do diagnostics.

I share the OP's view that 40 mcg/ml PGE-1 aches.

I'm using a mono-mix of 80mcg/ml alprostadil but I'm only using about 15 units. No ache if I inject slowly.

Try MenMD in Boston/Florida. Their now semi-retired founder, Terry Payton, did many of the original and ongoing clinical studies on injections going back 30 years and was extremely helpful on the several occasions I spoke with him.

I used them for 7-8 of the 9 years I did injections and found their clinical people to be very knowledgeable and helpful with titrating doses to efficacy. There are the customer service folks and then there are clinical pharmacists. Ask to talk with a pharmacist.

As I've explained somewhere elsewhere here on FT, on one occasion when I was trying to get some traction with a new urologist, I connected him with Terry and my urologist (also an implant surgeon - not Levine, another guy prior) told me later he was dumbfounded by how much he learned about injecting from Terry.

These compounders are definitely not all created equal, so my advice is to see out the best one you can find who is curious, responsive, and knowledgeable - and don't expect your physician to come to the table with some intrinsic knowledge of injections.

Punda: I use 100mg sildenafil with about half the Trimix I would otherwise need. This reduces pain. (But if you try this, start with much less Trimix to avoid a priapism possibility.)

Thanks so much for all your responses. I took the plunge and ordered a new mix:
PGE1: 25
Phento: 5
Pap: 30

I am able to tolerate 20 units of this mix, without much pain. The implication however is that I am getting a tiny amount of the other ingredients. With a ring, the erection is usable. So, I will stick with this for a while. Unfortunately, sildenafil / tadalafil no longer works for me, so I am unable to get extra boost through them. I am able to respond to vardenafil though, so I take it to plump things up before the injection.

I might try another mix consisting of 15 or 20mcg of PGE1 to see if it will allow me to take up to 0.5 units without much pain.

Thoughts ?

Best - Punda
