Avoiding Peyronie's Disease

Postby tobenormalagain » Thu Feb 24, 2022 9:41 am

Healthy, 55yo man with long-standing ED. Several years ago, I had been Rx'd Trimix and used maybe 15 times with good response. However, after that many injections, I developed an approximately 20 degree bend (Peyronie's Disease) mid-shaft. Needless to say, that created a lot of panic and I went cold turkey and swore off injections after that. I now have a penile implant surgery scheduled for late summer but my question is this; If I had a good response from Trimix, is it possible to use it long term (years)? Can PD be successfully prevented and treated with daily traction therapy. This seems like a much better option than an implant that has a finite life and sometimes requires multiple revisions. Thanks all

I'm not a medical professional of any kind. My advice is not reliable.

Yes, some guys can use tri-mix for many years without issue. You don't appear to be one of them. If you wanted to try injections again the only one I'd consider would be an alprostadil mono-mix and I'd be very cautious with that one too.

Good luck.

If you got a significant bend after only a few injections, I would dump your needles in the trash. My peyronie's which occurred after about 40 injections could not be straightened out even with an implant -- sidewise bend might be more correctable. But if it was me, I would not take the risk of further bending.

I appreciate that there are lots of drawbacks to implants -- one big one for you at your pre-medicare age might your insurance coverage... But better to address the bending now than to potentially have it get worse with additional injections. Anyway, just my view fwiw.

I agree with bldoink's advice re pure PGE -- my doc said it's the other components of Trimix that can cause all the trouble for some guys.
You can get PGE mono at Olympia Pharmacy -- good people.

I'm just going to ask this: Can the injections really bring on or exacerbate PD that quickly (through scarring)? I'd be more inclined to believe the effect is indirect - good erection leads to aggressive sex and then injury or something. Just seems like if you're injecting both sides that you can't be causing asymmetric scarring so as to induce a bend (even if scarring were to happen that quickly).
ED since mid '20, with slight Peyronies. Thus begins a search for the right solution(s); 56yo a/o Sep '21. Three months into my quest (12/21), I think PT-141, Cialis/tadalafil 20mg and L-Arginine (maybe other herbs) are a winning formula. For now.

There appears to be some guys that are just very susceptible to some component(s) of some injection mixes or perhaps the needle stick itself. There has certainly been some studies that indicate one or more of the ingredients of the standard tri-mix formulas is more likely to cause issues. Alprostadil mono-mix is not totally without risk either although it appears to be of lower risk. I also suspect a good part of the problem is poor injection techniques resulting in dumping the juice somewhere it doesn't belong.

If you inject, please follow the guidelines and make a strong effort to perfect your injection technique to avoid problems. In my case, the only deformity I've noticed occurred when I abstained for a couple of weeks to see if it would lessen anorgasmia, which it didn't. A little hour glass deformity on the right side occurred during my abstinence. At least it wasn't there before and was there afterwards. I do lean to the left a fair bit but I always have.

Good luck.

Thank you all for the great advice as always. And to answer Broken Piston’s question; I am 110% certain that my PD was brought about by a handful of Trimix injections. I am a medical professional myself and I was always very careful with my injection technique (alternating proper position) and never engaged in overly aggressive sex (erections weren’t that fantastic) that could have resulted in penile injury. I guess another question that I am very curious about is whether consistent daily traction can cure or prevent ED? Many urologist and some studies support this but I would love to hear it from someone with firsthand knowledge!

Injected about 2x per week for the last two years and I've had no issues. I just inject slowly, switch sides and rub the injection site for 3 minutes after. Not sure what guys are doing that not only causes PD but causes it so quickly.

You suggest that it is the user's fault for developing Peyronie's Disease due to poor technique but I challenge your assertion. I am very well versed in the proper technique for Trimix use (proper injection target areas and need for rotation) and did so consistently while using. That said, even with having utilized proper technique, I still developed a bend after using the medication only a handful of times. Instead, I believe that some men, for whatever reason, are just more susceptible to this deformity.

I had severe PD, and over the years, more than one doctor admitted that they knew very little about the causes. As tobenormalagain said, some men are prone to it, and others are not. I didn't start using Trimix until years after I was nailed by PD, so that wasn't it and I suffered no injury, it just happened, which is not unusual.
