Arginine + injections, anyone asked their Doc?

Postby frwmw1 » Sun Nov 14, 2021 8:01 am

Mixing Arginine and/or Citrulline with injections has comes up here a few times.

Usually, I wouldn't expect doctors to be supportive of such ideas because medication interactions are a difficult science and is risky.

I was told not to mix PDE5i's with injections, I suspect because of the risk of priapism.

So I suspect a similar concern would be for mixing Arginine with injections.

However a bonus of using Arginine with injection therapy would be that the injection dosage could be reduced, and so the impact and risks of injecting would reduce, namely the impact of the acidity of Trimix could be reduced over time.

Citrulline converts to Arginine in the body, and so can possibly last over 4 hours and so would be a risk of priapism.

However Arginine has a half life of 1-2 hours.

Has anyone asked their doctor about mixing Arginine with injections so to maximize the lifespan of injection therapy by reducing the required dosage?

My urologist prescribed 100mg sildenafil with Trimix. This allows me to use 40% of the Trimix I formerly needed, with a welcome reduction in Trimix side effects. When starting this, I had no possibility of priapism because I began with a very small Trimix dose and slowly worked up. Apparently other urologists are prescribing this method, as other FT guys are reporting this combination.

I haven't really asked about taking L-Arginine with injections, but he knows about through my listing it on my medical record in the meds I take daily...I take L-Arginine more to address high blood pressure than ED...MY BP has been stable for years with a combination of L-Arginine and a low dose of a BP medication.

Start gradually, applies to so many things you might try that are not mainstream medical counsel.

Take the citrulline / arginine mixture say 1.5 hrs before injection (low dose) and go up from there. I don't think we even have a forum consensus on what's the right amount of of those two.

Plus, there are other herbs maca, ashwaganda, yohimbine, dopa mucuna, horny goat weed. I take all of them but have no idea if they help because I've failed to be scientific. The citrulline / arginine seem to make the most sense to me because of how they can boost nitric oxide.
ED since mid '20, with slight Peyronies. Thus begins a search for the right solution(s); 56yo a/o Sep '21. Three months into my quest (12/21), I think PT-141, Cialis/tadalafil 20mg and L-Arginine (maybe other herbs) are a winning formula. For now.

I think you are right BP, I tried just pure arginine the other night with Injections yet still 4+ hours later it was taking it's time coming down, so I'm now thinking you have to be safe to avoid priapism.
