I usually do 3 nights per week. Been doing it for over a year with no problems so far.

I wouldnt want to do twice in a day because my dick is sort of hung-over and tender for hours after a shot wears off and doesn't feel ready for another shot for at least 24 hours.
44, ED problems began around age 28 when I was on finasteride for hair loss, and also got circumcised so I lost a lot of sensation. Pills gave me bad headaches and other side effects. Now using trimix 30/1/20. So far so good.

Oh fuck no! Don't "trust" anything I say until confirmed by a reliable source! I'm just relaying my experiences which may be uniquely valid to me alone.

This erection injection stuff seems more like alchemy than medicine to me and about as reliable. The right answers for you are the ones that work for you and I wish you early and great success getting that figured out.

Unfortunately my Uro, before he retired, was of little help. He gave me a prescription for Edex and told me to read the insert and then let him know if I had any problems. I figured it out on my own. I'm been getting my scripts from my Primary Care Provider ever since. I did like my former Uro but he was lacking in the ED department. He was good with stones and prostates.

Perhaps "trust" was not the right word. Probably meant to say that I value your opinion. I am beginning to see how injections can be like alchemy. There are just so many variations, it can be a bit confusing at first for a neophyte like myself. Like yourself, my urologist was not really a big help to be honest. Gave me a few samples of Edex and try out and I was on my own. Even when starting Trimix, I was barely given any instruction on how to inject and how to store, etc. So this site has definitely been a godsend.

May I ask where you found this information? I'm in the same boat...doc is pushing Trimix, but I'm wondering if I'd be better off on just alprostadil.

I think I might have read this on another thread here on FT. It was also alluded to on another thread that I started:

I've read a modest amount of medical and scientific articles on the various ED topics. Without paid access to sources maintaining links to such articles is difficult as access to the articles can change or become restricted or links may become difficult to find. Here is a link to an article in Nature.com that relates to the topic but is a bit dated now:

Combining the three vasoactive drugs: papaverine,
phentolamine and PGE1 allows one to reduce the
dosages of the individual compounds and therefore
to lower the risks of side-effects attributed to the
respective single drugs while increasing efficacy
rates.....

......Trimix is principally associated with the same side-effect
and risk profile of papaverine and phentolamine, especially in
terms of priapism and fibrosis.

Thank so much for the response. Brand new to this and trying to understand the potential issues as well as relevant options.

INCREDIBLY helpful information. Thank you very much for taking the time to post up. My urologist stated unequivocally he wanted to stick with Trimix in my case (even though I've had one nightmarish .01 ml Trimix #5 injection that resulted in a priapism and trip to the ER) when I mentioned trying something else. Perhaps that's just what he has the most experience prescribing to his patients?

Can anyone think of another reason he's stuck on it?

Sounds to me like alprostadil would be far safer in terms of the biggest potential side effects (fibrosis and priapism). I had a very slight dull ache from the Trimix...which makes me think I'd be able to handle the Alprostadil on its own.

Sean,

You should ask him why. You might get an actual answer, or not. Tri-mix might be all he knows or perhaps he's run into too many guys that experienced intolerable alprostadil pain and doesn't want to mess with those complications. While a fair number guys do experience intolerable alprostadil pain it is a minority.

I get my scripts from my PCP/GP and have for a good while. My original Uro that prescribed my original Edex script retired a number of years back and I didn't have one for good while. When I initially asked the new one for a new mono-mix script to my preferred pharmacy he declined. He would only write to one pharmacy across the state in the Tampa area and they only do Tri-mix. When I asked why not he gave an answer I no longer specifically recall except that it was a non-answer. That and he seemed to defensively note that he was not affiliated to the Tampa pharmacy and didn't profit from them, but I wonder. On my last uro visit he advised that he would write me a new script to my preferred pharmacy for my mono-mix. I have no idea what changed. I didn't bother to ask. I don't need a new script at the moment but it's good to know he changed his mind.

You could try calling some compounding pharmacies in your area to find one that will do an alprostadil mono-mix. Bear in mind that only a minority of compounders are licensed to make sterile injection drugs so it may take a bit of effort to locate one. When you find one talk to the pharmacist and ask what mixes he makes or if they mix anything the doctor orders. Ask for suggestions, including starting mix strength suggestions if you don't know where to start. The pharmacist will, of course, defer to the doctor but they will sometimes provide some useful information. You could also ask for the names of some doctors that are prescribing alprostadil mono-mix and then go the new Uro route.

If you already know what mix you want you can try asking your primary to write a script. When I first asked my primary I knew Edex 20s worked for me so I asked for a script based on those ingredients but 4 times stronger so I could inject less volume. I talked confidently like I knew what I was doing. Most PCP/GP doctors know little about erection injection drugs. If you have some dick injection experience and talk like you have a bit of knowledge they might write it for you.

I've convinced a string of 3 primary doctors to write for me. The last one asked why I didn't have my uro write it and I just told him the truth. That truth being that I was happy with what I was getting and where I was getting it supplied from and about my uro's strange refusal to write to a pharmacy other than the Tampa one.

I really like my newest primary (had him for several years now) but he's really old so I suspect I'll have to train another doctor eventually, unless or course I croak before he does. He only works part time and recently moved into an assisted living facility so I figure I'll be training another one.

Don't forget that an alprostadil mono-mix isn't for everyone but only a trial will tell.

I read this same thing on this site and asked my urologist about it. He said it's true - that papaverine and phento are acidic, and the acid is what causes scarring. So if just PGE1 isn't painful for you, that might be the safest option.
