Fixing to give injections a try, how long term?

Postby Markc2008 » Mon Jan 18, 2021 11:02 am

So I have been taking oral meds for about a year and a half now and they are becoming way less effective. I think it is due to the fact that my Ed is caused from a side effect from an antidepressant I was taking and it never went away. The antidepressant messed up my arousal phase so even though I see a beautiful woman I don’t respond to sexual stimuli anymore like I used to. It’s really odd but what do you do? Anyways, the whole thing on oral meds is you have to be aroused for them to work. While I do get slightly aroused it’s weak and so while the pills worked pretty well for a while, I notice as my body adjusts to them their just not working good anymore. So, with that being said I’m considering the injections. My question is, can the injections be a long term solution or will they quit working like the oral route? Are there guys that have been using them most of their adult life? I’m only 37, so I have quite a bit of time I would need to be relying on these lol.

I can't necessarily answer your question, but I have the same concern. Pills started being inconsistent with me after 15 years, and I'm only 45. I'm starting injections this month. Might alternate between injections and pills until the pills totally stop working. My research says that many men get 10-15 years out of the injections and others get 3-5 years or less. Some of it seems to be about biology. Guys with diabetes have bad veins and fare worse. Older men seem to have a shorter life on the injections. Guys like you and me who are younger and have decent blood vessels seems to do better, though not always. The best, yet most frustrating, advice I've seen here is that it's all trial and error, and there's no true way to predict what will work for you. If you feel frustrated by the pills, the injections may be the way to go. The other advice I've seen that has impacted me is that it doesn't make sense to sacrifice 5 great years of sex when you're younger so that you can have a better results when you're 65 when it may not matter as much. Good luck with whatever you do.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I was considering trying both as well as the shots seem to be pretty reliable for a while, even though they aren’t discreet. It’s crazy that the pills have only worked well for me for roughly a year and a half and I even alternate between viagra, cialis and levitra.

I don't know what the longest use of injections is or has been. I believe we have a member with a congenital spinal defect that has used injections for a very extended time but I don't recall the length. Mono-mix, I think. I'm working on 10 years of use, also mono-mix.

I think length of use is largely dependent on the cause of the ED. If you have a progressing physical cause (e.g., Worsening venous leak) your ED can eventually surpass the ability of the injections to compensate, thereby ending your injection run.

Otherwise, other issues can end you run such as Peyronie's disease or scaring or fibrosis. These conditions can be the result of previous injuries, disease, the loss or regular natural erections such as nocturnal erections, cardio vascular disease or the natural progression of age.

The physical process of the repeated needle punctures during the injection process may, in some users, also contribute to or cause the advancement of those conditions. The injected drugs themselves may also contribute to those issues contributing to ending your run.

On the other hand many guys have long runs on injections, myself included. I haven't noticed any change in effective dose once I figured out what my dose is. I also haven't noticed any long term use side effects. The only effects I've noticed was a slight increase in the very mild left bend, which I've had since I can remember in childhood and a slight narrowing on the right side. Both of the effects occurred during a period of abstinence I was experimenting with in the hope it would decrease the anorgasmia I've suffered with sense my RRP. I won't try the abstinence idea again. Your dick need blood engorgement from something.

I tried to be completely honest but in doing so I thing I accentuated the negative. I believe that if using proper techniques injections can be both safe and satisfying for many years for many men. If your doctor thinks they are appropriate for you then I'd definitely give them a good trial.

Thank you for the feedback. Yeah I mean with my problem not being so much to my knowledge a problem with my penis and more so a problem with my brain I suppose or some sort of chemical imbalance from medications I don’t know that there would be a worsening. Hopefully that means I could use them for the next 20 years. Maybe I’m being unrealistic but that’s what I’m hoping for. If I’m not any better and these side effects do indeed to be permanent then I think I would worry a lot less about an implant at that age then at 37. How do guys normally do it? Just go to the bathroom and inject it 15 mins or so prior? Do you guys travel with these needles?

I was 50 years old, when I started injections, I've had 2 years of fulfilling results, however at that time of starting, pills like viagra etc had virtually no effect on me.
I would say if pills are still giving you enough wood currently to have your desired sexual activities then try to delay injections,.
There is a member here that injected for 30 years which I find utterly remarkable, but to expect that length of time is a tall order.
There are several factors involved for preservation of longevity with injections, that we could cover on other topics once you younger guys make an informed decision, read the injection boards, tons of knowledge in this forum

Injecting is rarely a long term solution. Either from the physical condition causing ED getting worse or scarring occurs and you must stop.

Wow that sucks. So then I guess I’ll have to prepare myself for one day getting an implant I’d injections can’t be long term. I don’t see my condition getting worse since it’s not a physical cause but like I said a medication side effect.

Everyone is different. There are men here who have been on injections successfully for many years. Scarring is not common, and it can be treated while you take a break from Trimix. Then you can start again. My provider doesn't see many Trimix users with scarring. One reason why Trimix stops working for some is that the underlying condition behind the ED worsens. That doesn't sound likely with you. It's not as if your veins are deteriorating.

So then is it fair to say if I’m physically fine other than some lack of sensation and my problem is purely arousal issues from meds then I should be able to use injections until something becomes physically wrong? Do injections always cause curving and scar tissue?
