When to increase units?

Postby birdsonbat20 » Tue May 12, 2020 6:32 pm

Bear with me. Long time lurker, first time poster. 67 years old, had radical prostatectomy in 2017. I've been injecting since December 2019. Using Trimix 30-1-10. I've had some success, but can't say I've ever had a full blow erection like the old days. Erection was firm enough for penetration using 20 units. The last couple times we've tried using 25 units, we had no luck with penetration. I think we may have spent too much time on foreplay. I would like to move up to 30 units or more, but I'm nervous about a 4 hour erection. Currently after sex I take a couple sudafed and use an icepack, but I don't get completely flaccid for 3 1/2 hours. My question is, If your erection is not strong enough for penetration am I safe that it is not considered part of a four hour erection? How erect do you have to be for it to be considered unsafe. I have a checkup with my doctor next month. I would like to increase the number of units I am using before seeing her, but may just wait.

I'm sure Trimix veterans will chime in but maybe using a higher strength vs more units would be the solution. I wouldn't hesitate though. Call your doctor and see if she will write a stronger prescription to try out this weekend. :D

I am much the same as you whereby I have been increasing the units, up to 25 now. While I get firm enough to penetrate the erection is not the same as before surgery. I understand this is the norm for men who has had a prostatectomy and I guess I will have to live with this situation. I am wondering if you have experienced incontinence and how you dealt with this side effect when having intercourse? I have found this side effect to be more problematic than the lack of a firm erection. My wife doesn't like the idea of me leaking while having sex. I have used a condom but this not really a good solution. Any thoughts? Thanks

I'm mot a medical professional of any kind. Anything I post is based on my own experiences at best and hallucinations and or delusions at worst. Internet forum advice is likely worth what you paid for it, or worse. Always consult your doctor and follow his/her advice.

I personally wouldn't see a problem moving up gradually to 30. But don't let a random imperfect injection wrongly effect your judgement, should that be the case.

If your erection isn't fully hard I suspect the concern regarding priapism is lessened. I've never heard about any scale correlating percent of hardness to priapism risk. I'm guessing it's a sliding scale until a point is reached where there is no longer any risk. Personally if my erection is diminished to a point where it's no longer useful I consider the risk gone. I could be wrong.

As I said previously, I'd expect gradually increasing your dose would be OK. I'd also discuss with your doctor increasing the potency of your mix, especially the alprostadil component (PGE-1). I would never question your judgement to await your doctor consultation.

As I've mentioned to others, I recommend trying some novelty (sex shop type) cock rings. In some cases they can provide a nice boost to the effect of pills and/or injections. You generally have to try several until you find ones that work for you.

It is probably time to increase the strength of your mix. Again, I'd suggest increasing the alprostadil (PGE-1) component. Also I'll repeat my recommendation to experiment with some novelty (sex shop type) cock rings. They can add a nice boost to the pill and/or injections you're using. You'll probably have to experiment with a few until you find what works for you.

I am wondering if you have experienced incontinence and how you dealt with this side effect when having intercourse? I assume you're mainly talking about Climacturia and pre-orgasm leaking. I had that to a depressing degree. I guess it will always be a concern to some degree. My suggestion might be a problem if masturbation within marriage is an issue or sufficient privacy is a concern. But my suggestion is solo practice. Initially a lot of practice. You may just have to lay it out for your wife and hope she understands. She should if she wants to avoid pee. I discovered that with solo practice I could learn to to keep constriction on my kegel muscles during sex and even during orgasm. But it takes practice. Initially, when I learned to do this it pretty seriously diminished the enjoyment of orgasm as it verged on what might be considered a "ruined orgasm" but that's not really an issue any more. I can have an enjoyable O even while maintaining necessary constriction. Avoiding the intake of much liquid beforehand along with complete voiding of urine before sex is very important. Practice, it can bet better.

I suppose the solo practice could be avoided if your wife was willing to give a lot of hand jobs and put up with the pee during that learning period, but in most cases I'd think not.

Good luck.
