For Veterans using Tri-Mix and Tricare

Postby flyingduck2019 » Fri Oct 11, 2019 8:44 am

This information is for veterans that can use Tricare insurance and use Tri-Mix injections.
Yesterday I found out that I can get my Tri-Mix from a compounding pharmacy and my copay will be $28.00 and a $10 overnight shipping charge for a total of $38.00. According to the pharmacy the same copay applies to either a 5ml or a 10ml bottle. This particular pharmacy does not dispense the mix I am currently on (I pay $80 for a 5ml bottle) but has a mix that is vary close and my Uro has approved it. They also have other mixes so you would need to check with which pharmacy you would use to determine if they can provide the mix you need.

Going by the dose I now use (.02cc) I can get 25 doses out of a 5ml bottle and 50 out of a 10ml bottle. If the Tri-Mix holds it's strength as many have said by freezing it, I will only need two bottles of 10ml per year.

I would suggest that you find a compounding pharmacy and determine if you can go the same route.

By the way: My pharmacy did all the research, called my Uro and got the new RX and shipped the juice.

As a follow-on, I live in Hemet California and this pharmacy is Rancho Park Compounding Pharmacy in Los Angeles, about 50 miles away. They have bent over backwards to get me set up with Tricare so I can get my Tri-Mix and save a ton of money. You can find them online and send a message if you are interested in getting your Tri-Mix through them. They have more than one "mix", so it would be worth touching base with them.

I just got off the phone with my compounding pharmacy. They do not ship Tri-Mix out on Fridays because of possible delays on weekends. They ship Monday thru Thursday. I will be getting my Tri-Mix in 4 each 2.5ml bottles on Tuesday. This will work fine as I can freeze 3 bottles and keep one in the fridge along with a couple filled syringes.

If anyone has questions please PM me.

Mattmdv, My current Tri-Mix dose is working just fine. 0.2cc, 30g 5/16 inch needle and about 15 minutes later I'm ready to go. I said to myself, why should I pay $80 for a 5ml bottle if Tricare will pay and I only have to pay $38 for a 5 or 10ml bottle?

I hope other veterans who need tri-mix and can use Tricare will see these posts and take advantage of the savings they can get. Even if their insurance covers part of the cost but they can save more by going through Tricare I hope they choose to do so. It takes a few days to get it all lined up but well worth the time and effort. I will post on Wednesday and let you know how the new "mix" worked.

I got my new Tri-Mix from my new pharmacy yesterday. I was taking 10-30-0.5, now taking 10-1-30. I received 4 each 2.5ml bottles and through Tricare (military veteran) my copay was $38.00 that included $10.00 for overnight shipping. With my old mix I took 20 unites which gave me a firm erection for almost two hours. Last night I injected the same amount of the new mix. Got a good erection in about 10 minutes but noticed there was a throbbing sensation in my penis. This continued through intercourse and for about an hour.

Tonight I am going to inject again but with only 15 units and see if the results are different.

On Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 I injected 15 units of my new mix. Obtained an excellant erection in about 8 minutes. Erection stayed very firm for an hour. At this point I masterbated to completion. Erection continued to stay firm for another hour before it started to subside. No throbbing in my penis.

flyingduck2019, Reads like something is "Looking Up" for you and the wife, Happy to Read That!!!
E-mailed my compounding pharmacy about Express Scripts, and got this reply:
"Good afternoon.
Yes. We do. We are a preferred provider with them. However, compounds may or may not be covered depending on the plan. Please feel free to call our pharmacy and make sure we have your billing information on file. Thank you."

I'll call Monday and determine what she she means by, "covered depending on the plan", don't understand that. We have Tri-Care Prime.
Wondering why the compounding pharmacy people didn't make the connection, retired military, prescription written from doctor at the local Air Force Base? Not going to make issue of it. $28.00 for Express Scripts beats the HECK out of the $130 I paid, for 2 different Tri-Mix strengths.
flyingduck2019, did I read your Tri-Mix strength is 10-1-30? I gave someone else here on franktalk the formula that is written on my bottles from the pharmacy and he converted to this: 30-1-20. Basically, I'm confused,

Matt, glad you are moving forward with your mix order. You are probably correct, the pharmacy only knows "insurance Plans" as they work with many of them. Calling them directly is the best way as I ended up talking on the phone with my pharmacy. I don't know if my pharmacy called express scripts or Tricare, they didn't say, but whomever they called did the trick. I think you will be successful in getting your mix once the ball is rolling.

As for the numbers, all I know is the numbers I listed are the one's on the package the 4 vials of my mix came in. It listed the name and number of each componant.

If you have questions PM me.
