Depth of injection

Postby hawk14 » Mon Sep 17, 2018 4:30 am

Very new to the site and injecting. I am very small when flaccid and have only injected the once, which frightened me to death. Used the standard Caverject needle and then started bleeding from I assume the tip of the penis. I guess I had gone into the urethra.
I am a diabetic and consequently have hundreds of smaller and thinner needles. Is it OK to use these and I guess I need to inject into the side of the penis to get it right?
Any help greatly appreciated

Welcome to Frank Talk. I am sure that one of our members that inject, can offer you lots of advice. Some of these guys have been injection for more than 2 decades. You are in good hands. Sorry that I can't help you, I only injected 4 or 5 times... it didn't work for me, it burned when going, having to inject 1 hour before sex was a real mood killer and I hated it in general. :)

Hawk, for the time I injected that is what I used . I found the 1/2" needles did not provide good results but the 5/8" did just fine. I would normally push the needle all the way in to the syringe. I did check with my Dr and got his ok. By the way I hated, I mean HATED injecting for several reasons. I have no issue doing other self injections.

Hi hawk and welcome to the site,

I'm not a medical professional of any kind. Anything I post is based only on my own experiences at best and hallucinations and/or delusions at worst. Always ask your doctor and follow his/her advice.

There are many threads on the topic of injection techniques. I would suggest you search them out and read as many of them as you can tolerate. You will find a lot of "good" information and much agreement as well as some disagreement on technique. The technique that works for you is the correct technique.

I use 31 gauge 5/16 (8mm) long U-100 insulin syringes. I usually use 3/10 cc/ml volume syringes for 30 U-100 insulin units. I'm able to use the smaller volume syringes as I get my alprostadil from a compounding pharmacy at a much higher potency than what is available in Caverject or Edex. I find it much easier to inject correctly with the insulin syringes as there is much less rubber to push inside the syringe and it makes feeling for resistance easier.

As for depth of injection I've found that I like the 5/16" (8mm) better. With the 5/16" needles I insert them fully plus a little more. The plastic nipple of the syringe is actually depressing my flesh. If using 1/2" needles I will not fully insert the needle. Proper depth is determined by plunger resistance. Insert needle the estimated correct depth and try depressing the needle. If noticeable resistance is felt then try a little deeper. If you go too deep you will again encounter resistance so try backing out a tad. If you manage to drill all of the way through to the urethra you might find reduced resistance also. Obviously determining correct depth by resistance is more difficult using Edex or Caverject.

Always insert the needle at the 2-3 or 9-10 O'clock positions and make sure you drill toward the center line. Start doing injections about 1/3 of the way out from the base of your dick. It's more difficult and is actually more painful if too close to the base. After you gain some experience you can experiment a bit with the injection location.

Using a different syringe and needle other than what is supplied by Caverject would, I expect, be an unapproved off-label use. But yeah, I've done it (Remember what I said about not being a medical professional and to follow your doctor's advice). I have mixed the dose in the Edex (I didn't use Caverject) syringe cartridge and then removed the edex supplied pin needle and then used an insulin syringe and inserted it through the rubber where the pin needle was and drew the dose up into the insulin syringe for use. I've also drawn up a partial dose, replaced the pin needle to seal it, refrigerated the remainder and then used the remainder later. The literature clearly states that you shouldn't do that, so don't. I don't always follow rules well.

OK, so you drilled the urethra. You'll likely have some other minor mishaps on your learning journey. Shlt happens. No reason to be afraid. Injecting will quickly become easy and nearly pain free.

Carry on and good luck. If you have any other questions or concerns, do NOT hesitate to post or pm. For those of us who inject, we've all been newbies at some point.

Thanks bldoink, this is exactly what I was talking about... I knew somebody would step up with good info for this fella. :)

Tomas 1, you are 100% correct, I did mean 5/16". Thanks, no offense taken.

Man he wrote the book above, hat tip! A few adders. 1) I hit the urethra once after many successful injections. My mistake. I rotated the penis a bit when pushing it onto my leg and got the angle wrong. Yea, chemical and some blood dripped out onto the floor. I am MUCH more careful about keeping things straight now. 2) I prefer to "fluff" and get slightly enlarged first as you get a better deeper bigger target and can see surface veins better. I still get the occasional very small bruise/hematoma and once got a real doozy (rushed it in bad light). I had sex anyway (wife was all warmed up), it healed in a week, and I lived to tell about it. 3) Use the best light you can, daylight preferable, really examine the bugger. 4) I prefer a 1/2" 30ga needle. I can feel the first resistance at the outside skin and the second resistance at the covering of the cavernosa. I go slow. My technique being slightly engorged lets me sink the 1/2" needle in to the hub. 5) I did not get deep enough, not into the cavernosa, maybe pulled up a bit(?) twice with a 5/16" long needle and got it into the skin layer above the cavernosa. That caused all kinds of havoc, large red swollen dick and no boner. No brass ring that day (twice). Good, luck.

As mod, you might refer to the dozens of other posts on this topic, many in the first two pages, kudos to 'bldoink'. I haven't been on here long but I am already tired of answering this question. This happens a lot on other topics boards as well and mods usually say "Welcome and DO a Search" when it's obvious.
