How soon can I inject again?

Postby JonrUK » Fri Jul 13, 2018 5:28 am

I know that the medical advice is ‘not to inject more than once in 24 hours’.

However, I believe that most of the advice about injection frequency is to avoid scarring and fibrosis, rather for any pharmacological reason.

Unless it is said in order to avoid any possibility of Priapism, I have never been able to find any explanation of the ‘24 hour rule’.

Does anyone have an explanation?

and this is the medical view that doesn't make sense to me.

If 'scarring' only occurs as a result of physical trauma (i.e. the needle) but you have a good rotation of injection sites (in my case about 20 different positions) then why is frequency linked to the risk of fibrosis and scarring?

I am not a doctor but I am not sure I buy the scarring argument. But that's just me. I think it has more to do with prolonged erections -- priaprism. An excessive amount of Trimix in your blood stream could lead to painful, extended erections. So, my theory is this is why the medical community advises waiting at least 24 hours between injections.

But again, I am not a doctor. We should all follow the guidance of our physicians,

Hey Cigar! Looks like my voyage with injecting is coming to an end. 2 1/2 years ago you gave me some great support! Alas, now I am experiencing "lumps/bumps" at the injection site (they would disappear but it took several weeks) and my Uro has guessed but has no answers to the "lumps/bumps" and has instructed me to stop injecting.
Use Super Quadmix due to severe Venous leak.Have a GREAT DAY!

When stacking injections close together I believe there's also some concern with liver damage.
R.R.P 2011 Mayo Jacksonville, Dr. Michael Wehle. Nerve sparing - badly damaged. C in margin. V.E.D, Viagra and PGE-1 (80mcg/ml) injections @ ~ 14 units. Originally Edex20, then compounded PGE-1 - cost. Inject. 10+ yrs. It works. Treasure coast of FL.

I was wondering where the Tri-Mix constituents were removed, so it is the liver?? I've also wondered while they were traveling around the blood stream and being metabolized and removed, what effect they had on other organs. Vasodialators and smooth muscle relaxants on the heart, brain (stroke, anyuerism), eyes/retina, etc. Any research on secondary effects or folks with liver disease?

The 11 page written doc my Uro gave me was that "It may cause scarring." (Q37) if injected more than twice a week and may contribute to Peyronie's (Q46) as well as due to technique (Q48). However I was told 3 times a week.

So far varying between 2-3 times a week, and occasionally back-to-back days and no adverse effect noted. But who knows, my brain may be turning to jelly. I do get some PGE ache and that takes a day to subside so it is rare for B2B days.
NOT an MD. 71, M51 yrs, CenTX US. Inj since 12/2016, a yr after pills stopped working. Caverject for a yr. 1/2018 Tri-Mix at 30 pap/2 phent/60 pge @0.3ml, now 0.5ml 80mcg/ml PGE1. DE/Anorgasmia setting in since 5/2019, worse now.

something t0 keep in mind, with each injection you are creating an injury.Over a period of time those injuries tend to add up, and reinjecting to soon can cause problems. This is only my opinion. If each injection is within the same area and close to the last injection site you may be causing the scarring that you want to avoid.
I was injecting for a short time 6 months. I noticed that it was getting harder to inject as time goes on. That in itself concerned me. I also developed an allergic reaction. :You do not have that problem. It may be better to err on the side of caution that to assume that they only tell you to inject after 24 hrs. I waited on my injection time. That is just me. I will say to pay attention to what your body is telling you. Good luck to you and I wish you luck.

Hey Needle D!

So sorry to hear about your issues. Are you planning to move on to an implant? Might be worth it to get a second opinion from another experienced urologist on the injections. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!

This U.S. Government article (linked below) says the Papervine ingredient in Trimix can cause issues with the liver, but it does not mention frequency of injections. Could three injections in one day cause liver problems or three in one week? Or maybe two injections a month? The article doesn't draw any conclusions.
