Hello all,

As a very brief summary:

- 34 y/o
- Started noticing a decline in EQ around 21 after a failure to launch post a heavy night out
- Became more and more focused on erections
- This behaviour became an OCD habit
- At 26, underwent a Doppler US - very minimal reaction - diagnosed w/ 'mild venous leak'
- Put on cialis - developed dependence
- 2 years later, saw an andrologist, another Doppler - NO venous leak - excellent in and outflow, told psychological
- Year later sought out another andrologist - yet another Doppler - again No Abnormality Detected - told psych
- In the background - mental dependence on Cialis growing by the year
- Saw the top implanter in the UK last year - underwent Nocturnal Penile Testing - Result: 5 normal erections, each lasting approx 20 mins, told psychological again, venous leak ruled out, but he understood sometimes a psychological problem can be extremely hard to vanquish
- All this time, cialis 97-99% effective with a variety of women
- With my most recent ex - weaned down to 10mg cialis on demand
- Have had a number of occasions, most notably recently under the influence of a shit-tonne of alcohol and drunk where I had sex with no medication, pills or otherwise in my system and I was fine, albeit quite rushed.

But now....

I have just broken up with my ex & my anxiety is at an all-time high. Masturbation just doesn't work and I'll cum w/ a semi. You know how much that affects your state of mind?! I'm sure many of you do....

I cannot stop thinking of this issue. I know it's in my mind but knowing that doesn't seem to help me.

I'm developing a real phobia of sex and now that I'm at square 1 and I have to get back in the dating game, feeling uncomfortable and scared, I fear that even the pills may not work next time round....

I do believe that if I can settle into a meaningful relationship w/ a good woman, share all my concerns and just feel safe w/ that person, that I can get back to the pill usage, in time wean down & maybe just maybe, one day wean off. But I am happy to be implanted one day. I can honestly live w/ that.

But now, I have questions re: injections:

- Are these the same agents that are used when performing the dopplers? My reactions to them weren't good but I do remember having a 2 hour hard on when I got home - I guess the stress of being on a table naked, fearful of the results really shut me down.

- Do you think I should ask for an injection to get me over the initial fear stages of a new lover?

- Like pills, do they need arousal or do they just make most patients hard, no matter what? (I know that's a stupidly vague question)

- Do they really cause damage over time?

- How long does the effect last, typically?

- Any general advice for me and my all-consuming situation?

Thank you so much, brothers!

Hey mate,

Sounds we're in the same boat, so you're not alone. I have also the fear of dating and don't can finish 'the job'.

From what i understand you don't have to be aroused like viagra, cialis ect.

Do either of you find vaigra works less effectively if you're not aroused/stressed?

Yes. I used Viagra from 48 to 64 y/o in increasing doses from 25 to 100 mg when it was starting to be less effective and the side effects got worse. Tried to mix it up with Cialis, Levitra and Stendra with mixed but poor results. You need to be stimulated for it to work. It increases blood flow but the valving has to work from the brain. Tri-Mix (or Mono-Mix, PGE) is more effective seemingly at overriding the inlet valve and giving a pretty sure boner. Dunno why. Some report some fading after 10-30 min, some reportedly stay hard for hours even after ejaculation. This is somewhat dose dependent in my experience. Some report fading, like quickly, in different positions like, on the bottom.

1) I think most doctors will use straight alprostadil (PGE1) or tri-mix for injection induced erections for doppler tests. The stress from the situation may have affected your injection induced erection.

2) I have no advice on this.

3) This can vary by dose and each patients individual response to the medication. Generally, the injection will produce an erection regardless of the state of arousal. However, arousal will significantly improve the quality of erection in many if not most men.

4) They can cause damage over time but certainly not always and they don't cause damage in the majority of men. However, while I don't recall the percentages, there is a notable percentage of men that do suffer damage over time.

5) That seems to vary considerably. I generally have a full solid erection for at least a couple of hours. It is not unusual for me to have a significant erection for 4 hours. Both the erection quality and duration is dependent on dosage and the patients reaction.

6) My general advice would be to stay positive and be patient.

I use Trimix with great success. Last winter I was vacationing in Florida without any of my meds or needles, and then my wife and I felt in the mood. (I don't carry this stuff away on flights, too awkward for me to explain to a stranger) I did have Cialis with me though and gave it a try. We were successful at making love, but just barely so. My point is that, in my case, injections overcome ED very well, far better than pills, no matter what's going on in my head. I suggest trying it.
