UK alternative IC injections?

Postby WestLad » Sat Feb 07, 2026 4:12 am

Historical problems with supply of Alprostadil injections (Caverject / Viridal) in the UK have been well documented.
Invicorp is more available now, but there are still occasional problems.
Is anyone aware of new alternative injections being researched at the moment?
UK. 70 years old.

Misoprostol from Indiamart works quite well for me

In tablet form?

Yes. Topically. Don’t take it orally

4x 200mcg misoprostol tablets. Crushed between two spoons and then applied around the glans and in the urethra. Foreskin helps, here. It works similarly to alprostadil.

Literally never heard of it. Does it bypass nerves better than pde5s? What are the contraindications and how do you apply it? I tried Vitaros alprostadil cream with no result.

Thanks.

The mechanism and subsequent contraindications will be similar if not identical to any alprostadil formulation. Misoprostol is basically just the poor man’s Vitaros

Can either be used in combination with Pde5s seeing as thru are mostly local and less systemic?

Yeah I’ve taken misoprostol with pde5is and it didn’t negatively affect me at all. But keep in mind I can take 100mg of tadalafil (yes, 100mg of tadalafil) with 200mg of sildenafil and I get absolutely no side effects. Wouldn’t even know I’ve taken them.
