Refreezing drawn needles

Postby Nocturne » Fri Jan 16, 2026 2:44 pm

I feel like there is a lot of confusion about this.
I’m getting a new vial of Trimix, some phenylephrine, and some needles shipped to me.
I’m not planning to use it more than once a month or so.
I have heard of people drawing needles (one dose) and refreezing them for later use.
Nurse practitioner I initially saw indicated that was a no-go.
Doc later told me some of his patients do it and didn’t advise against it.
Pharmacy told me NOT to refreeze needles or even put them back in the fridge because they “lose potency” after being taken out of the vial.
What is the deal here? Is this a thing that is effective to do or not? Is it dangerous somehow?
Again, I plan to use this stuff once a month or so and would rather not be ponying up the dough for a whole new vial every time.
Edit: I did some reading and it looks like the issue is with REFREEZING trimix after it has already been frozen and thawed once. Called pharmacy and confirmed that they only refrigerate it before shipping. So - I can freeze it in drawn needles so long as I only freeze it once?
Genetically sky-high Lp(a) of 390 led to various heart diseases. Ultra-low testosterone of 120 (now 480 with Clomid) also contributed to ED at age 41. Managing with daily Cialis, but for me, the implant is a "when", not an "if".

The loss of potency of prostaglandin—the component of TriMix that’s said to degrade at room temperature—is greatly overstated.

I kept vials refrigerated (not frozen) for extended periods, often months at a time, and noticed no loss of potency. The last injection from a vial worked just as well as the first, and no differently from the first injection of the next vial.

I did try freezing once, since it seemed like a good idea. I pre-filled several syringes, placed them in a baggie, and stored them in the freezer. When it was time to inject, I’d take one out, and it would thaw within a few minutes.

However, I ran into a significant problem: the needles on those syringes became clogged. I would already have the needle inserted, but the plunger wouldn’t depress. Wrestling with a stuck syringe while the needle is inside your penis is extremely difficult. When I removed the needle, there was no way to get the medication to flow—the needle was completely blocked.

My suspicion is that one of the components precipitated out of solution during freezing or thawing, forming a solid plug inside the needle.

I know others have frozen and thawed TriMix without any issues, and I believe them. In my case, the medication was very concentrated, and I was using a relatively high dose at that point, which may have contributed to the problem.

Because of that experience, I stopped freezing altogether and simply kept the medication refrigerated.

Based on my experience, whether you freeze or refrigerate doesn’t make a meaningful difference in potency.
