misfire with alprostadil

Postby Tommaso » Mon Dec 08, 2025 8:27 am

Hi everyone, I've suffered from psychological ED all my life due to severe performance anxiety. I used pills for over 10 years, then recently switched to alprostadil. I tried it on my own for the first time with 6mcg, which gave me a 2 hour erection. I injected at 11 o'clock and saw a little blood in the syringe. When I tried it with an escort, 10mcg had no effect whatsoever. I had to inject in the car before meeting her, so for convenience, I injected at 3 o'clock. There was no blood, and the plunger felt stiff at first. Did I inject the wrong way? Or is my anxiety SO bad that it completely negated the effect of the medication? I'd like to hear your opinion. Now I'm a little afraid to try again; my anxiety has clearly worsened after this episode. sorry for my english

It's rare but I do think if a person has SEVERE anxiety it can overwhelm trimix.
The first time I tried trimix a couple years ago at the doctor's office at 10 units dosage I got an excellent erection but a couple days later I tried it with my wife (I was very nervous)and it barely worked at all to the point we did not do anything. A couple of days later I tried again and I moved from 10 units to 12 units and then it worked fantastically for well over 2 hours and has been life-changing for me. Now after about 200 injections I have had maybe 3 or 4 misfires. But now my success rate has been so good that my mind has become conditioned to expect the Trimix to work.
If I were you I'd go up a little bit in dosage and keep trying till you have some success and once you see it work then you'll probably be okay thereafter.
Also you may want to try using an autoinjector. It may lessen the stress of getting the injection done. I can inject with the syringe alone but I find using the injector makes things a lot easier and you can target the injection better. I use one called inject ease and I have found it to be very effective.
Also I almost forgot.... If things do not turn around pretty quickly you need to go back to your doctor and maybe he can make some changes in your prescription

Do you use a VED before injecting? For me it is a must in the process. It plumps up the penis and makes injecting so much easier.

When injecting manually, if the plunger feels stiff, you are not in the corpus cavernosum - push in slightly, or pull out slightly because you may have gone through the corpus. When the needle is in the corpus, the plunger feels like the needle is in air - there is no resistance.

If the needle is not in the corpus, no erection will happen and you will probably get a burning pain.

Practice alone every 4 or 5 days and you will improve your technique. Don't pay for an escort until you have good technique. When I began injecting it took me several weeks to get a reliable result.
