I’ve always re-frozen my trimix. I thaw it out, prefill a bunch of syringes. When I use all those syringes, I thaw again and prefill more. If I recall correctly these are the instructions my old pharmacist gave me 3 or 4 yrs ago. he also indicated that the ‘expiration date’ was somewhat bogus, but they were required to put 30 days on the label.
My last refill of 10ml w old pharmacy was early Feb 2025. I just used that up last week. My new refill w new pharmacy was July 7 2025.
The new pharmacy told me to not refreeze the new vial after I had pierced it w a needle. They said the formula would degrade. So I should store it in the fridge, and discard after 30 days.
I asked if they were worried about bacteria if I’m refreezing. They said no, the issue is decreased strength of formula.
This seems crazy to me. In my mind I believed more degradation would happen in the refrigerator?
The current price for 10ml is $135 US. When freezing I’m getting 3 to 4 months out of a vial.
If I discard after 30 days obviously I just get a month’s use.
I know a number of you refreeze like I have. Any thoughts on this? Should I just keep doing what I’m doing? Or is the pharmacy correct?

I have no medical training or expertise so my advice means nothing.
Unless there's something special about their mix I'd keep doing what I was doing. If there is something special about their mix I'd find another compounder.
