does refrigeration damage liquid phenylephine

Postby Budward » Sat May 03, 2025 6:17 pm

Just wondered when I first ordered my Trimix they send a vial of liquid phenylephine. I refrigerated it without reading the label say "Do not refrigerate". Does this mean it is no good now?

I have two bottles of phenylephrine. One has labeling to refrigerate (from MenMD); the other says not to refrigerate (from Olympia) my best guess - and that's all it is - is that each pharmacy has a different compounding process that either is or is not sensitive to temperature..

I'm not a doc or a pharmacist, but I find it difficult to believe cooling would hurt the compound. Hopefully someone with expertise will chime in.

I have no medical expertise, but I am a chemical engineer. Very few materials are negatively impacted from cold temperatures. Some materials however can be negatively impacted from freeze thaw cycles so my speculation would that is what they are trying to avoid by saying to not refrigerate. If it just got cold my two cents would be you have noting to worry about.

Hopefully I won't have to use it but tirating a new batch of stronger Trimix so a bit concerned, going to inject a very low dose the first time (today).

injected just over 1.0 which is over half of what I was taking. Got a great erection and lasted only an hour. Got great advice here on Franktalk. One guy said to buy the stronger script of Trimix as the cost of compounding the same for all strengths. So I will see how many injections I get from the new vial and see what the average cost per injection is. Will let you all know.

Hey Budward. Injected over 1.0 what? 1 unit? That would be a TINY amount to measure. Nearly impossible actually.

1.0 cc or ml? That would be 100units and an ENORMOUS dose. In that were the case I would ask the urologist to make it SEVERAL steps stronger so you can get the volume of fluid you inject into the 10-15 unit range. That was big enough to have a reasonable level of precision when measuring it, yet small enough that I got lots of doses out of a vial.

Anyways, units is important to get meaningful advice. And putting your Trimix prescription in your signature is helpful as well: PGE (prostaglandins) mcg, Papaverine mg, Phentolamine mg. That helps too.

I'm betting he meant 10 units or 0.1ml
