When do I start using injections?

Postby qcswral » Sat Feb 16, 2013 3:09 pm

Hi everyone...I'm new to the forum, so bare with me....Could somebody tell me when a prescription for injections is indicated?
I mean for the past 8 years I've been using Viagra with great success....only the once in a blue moon problem and it was usually associated with stress. Then for the past 3 months, I've has several bouts of ED with meds, at my usual dose..even sometime higher...problem is I'm single dating a lady..although she's been understanding, I'm at my wits end and frankly, don't want to loose her to this damn affliction....now I'm battling the low self esteem crap, feeling like half a man etc....For the record, I'm 58 with coronary heart disease. I had by-pass surgery 1 year ago, but after only 2 months I was right back in the saddle....I even thought the surgery helped my erections...but recently, it's been horrible...I would just like to know your experience with when your Doc decided on injections. I went to a urologist last week, where he did a hormonal blood panel, prostrate exam, etc..I go back in 6 weeks...he prescribed Cialis 5mgs a day with an added Viagra before I'm with my lady....but even that didn't work last night...I feel like all of a sudden, my dick has died......thanks for listening anyway.

My Urologist really never recommends anything , he is more concerned about undetectable PSA's . Everything I've tried has been by my asking . I felt the same as you , half a man , nothing really worked . Then I found this website and decided to ask him about injections . That was the best thing I have done so far , did my first injection last Tuesday , and have three stabs under my belt . I was afraid my wife would think I had lost my mind wanting to inject drugs into my dick , but you should see the smile on her face when I walk into the bedroom with that HARD ON .

Go for it , your lady will love it !

Sounds like you are getting close to the point of starting with Injections. I started after 100 mg of Viagra was no longer effective. I had some good results with a tight tension band ( cock ring) but got tired of loosing sensitivity after 10 minutes and needing to remove it after 20' minutes.

I made an appointment with an urologist who put me on 10 mg of daily Cialis which was useless. He then agreed to try me on Trimix. I have had 18 months of good erections though recently it seems I need to increase the dose in order to get my preferred 1.5 hour erection. Hopefully, I am not building a tollerence to Trimix.

Thanks for all your responses..it really helps knowing other guys have gone through and have come out well "Happy"...any of you guys on blood thinners? I've been on Plavix since my surgery last year....my concern is stopping the bleeding at the injection site.

I responded to your post in the pumping forum. I mentioned I am taking a regular asperin daily and often take 6 grams of l-arginine ethyl ester. Not sure how that compares with plavix, but I have no problems with the injection site.

A good way to look at it is to think of "less invasive to more invasive": pills, shots, implant. Many guys would add "pumps" in there somewhere. When should you start injections? Whenever the pills no longer provide a satisfactory experience. When should you consider an implant? Whenever injections no longer provide a satisfactory experience. For me, it's a simple as that.

Greg,

One concern I have on shots-to-implant journey -- if - ever have to make it -- is, If I have GOOD insurance now with low deductables (and easy access to Uro) vs later on when I retire and am on Medicare + addons + who knows what kind of queue for surgery, will there be a big financial hit if you wait until you retire to get an implant?

Something to think about even if shots are still working fine right now ... which they are ...

Jim,

Right now, Medicare covers implants. With a good supplemental policy, there should be little or no out of pocket. That beats probably 75% of the private policies in force in the USA today.

Those long lines for Medicare will be all across the board. Affordable Care Act is structured to drive private insurers out of the market. There won't be any private coverage in less than 10 years. Everyone will be on a government plan of some kind. And we know that socialized medicine always leads to scarcity. I would be more concerned about waiting 2 years for a heart bypass or cancer treatment. We all have that to look forward to.

Not meant as a political statement--just comment on the future of health care.

Best wishes,

Greg
