Medicare Pumps

Postby ocitgo » Mon Feb 16, 2015 6:44 am

What is the status of removing pumps from Medicare? I am in a Medicare Advantage HMO with Group-health Cooperative.

I got a non-medically approved VED from Amazon for under $80. It works similarly to the medically approved pump.

I have an Encore but I would like to try an Osbon which is too expensive for me.

I am looking for an approved source for pumps with Group Health Medicare Advantage HMO. I have a prescription but his vendor is not approved for his source.

I called Group Health Medicare Advantage customer service today. I just got a copy of their plan today and din't find exceptions. I was told they don't cover penis pumps even though they are covered by Medicare. I have had a prescription since last August. I complained and I will be called back.

Maybe I have good news. Today I was called and told I need to have my doctor directly make a request to them. I will keep you posted.

Good news - Group Heath/Medicare authorized a pump but only 50%. Does that mean I will get 1/2 of an erection? :-)

I don't know yet what their approved provider can get. Last time I dealt with them was about my catheters. They give me anything I want. They are paid in full.

Today in my regular mail came a flyer from Encore that said Medicare will stop covering Pumps on July 1, 2015. It was "REVIVE YOUR LOVE LIFE WITH ENCORE". I am authorized a pump by Group Heath but only through BYRAM HEALTHCARE DME (REDMOND). The REVIVE PREMIUM is covered at $525 at 50% copay. I have a ImpoAid Battery Kit which I paid about $108 for so I don't see the deal being a deal. I want an Osborn anyway since I already have an Enore.

Today I was able place an order for a Medicare pump before John Boehner the Speaker of the United States House takes it away.

My pump came today. I just tested out and I am impressed. It makes my Encore feel and act like a toy. In a few days I will try it out with my wife.
We haven't had dependable intercourse for years because of my health post bone marrow transplant. I have tried injections and meds with less satisfactory pleasure. If this don't work I may do an implant if she enjoys sex like when we were 40-50 yrs younger.
