When to apply Vacuum Pump

I am relativity new to using a vacuum therapy pump and finding it somewhat challenging. I would appreciate feedback from other users as to when to apply the pump to create an erection, before or after the foreplay phase of love making with your partner. All and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Lazy Horse

Well I'm certainly not the resident pumping expert. I will say that every guy is different as is every couple's relationship. You'll need to experiment. If you can tolerate it, taking a PDE5 like Viagra can sometimes help with pumping. It helps me a lot. Due to time limiting factors of constriction rings I'll suggest having most foreplay prior to pumping. A second and equally important reason is that, like the PDE5 inhibitor drugs, the sexual arousal from the foreplay can also make the pumping easier and quicker, even if the foreplay alone can't produce any erection response on it's own. Depending on the relationship with your partner you can make the pumping a part of your foreplay. That will help with both timing and pumping and can be made part of play, with her still having some control over your erection.

Lazy Horse,

My routine is have everything set up in advance: Rings on the tube and pump hooked up to the tube. I then get into foreplay and when ready for PIV or some oral then PIV, I place the tube on me, pump up the erection and snap the rings in place from the tube. That way it only takes a minute or so of downtime. Partner can still continue to play with you while pumping. Use plenty of lube, make sure your testicles don't get sucked into the tube before placing the rings (kind of uncomfortable to get them out, and observe the 30 minute or less rule. When you establish a sequence that works best for you, let us know.

Definitely after foreplay to maximise use of the strict 30 minutes limit when pumped up with constriction ring(s) holding the erection.

I think that is something each couple should decide for themselves.
It took us a few months of pump use to arrive at a mutually satisfactory method.
Like others here I set up in advance.

I agree with the above comments, but will add a few things from my experiences.

First and foremost, hopefully you have a VED with a pressure gauge and a cylinder/tube that is right sized for you. If you’re not sure, check out the post called “Safe use of VED”. Spon goes into great detail about right sizing and safe uses of a VED. Although you want to jump in the sack as quickly as possible, don't exceed the recommended-5 pressure.

If you haven’t already, make a few practice runs by yourself. I thought I was ready to jump in sack with my wife only to find out that even though I had on one of the smallest rings, I couldn’t keep an erection to last long enough to get us to our intended destinations. Based on the advice from AOM, I went to using two rings and it solved the problem.

For me, it takes me around twenty minutes to get an erection and rings popped on. My wife waits patiently outside of the bedroom until I give her the “Ready” call. She quickly comes in and jumps into bed. I apply a little more lube and away we go. As I’ve mentioned before in other posts, my wife is a little bit old school and doesn’t want to participate in the pumping up process. I would love it if she would prance around and do provocative things, but that’s not her. I have no complaints as she has been a really good sport and very supportive through all of this. I would say our idea of foreplay is like what the late great Robin Williams said in the Mrs. Doutfire movie “Winston’s idea of foreplay was ‘brace yourself Effy’ “. I digress. :-)

Lastly, anticipating getting laid and nervous/anxious to get to full erection without getting my testicles caught up in the tube or rings and hoping I don't lose my erection, my hands would get extremely cold. I would try warming them up by placing them in my arm pits and between my legs. I’m getting better at the whole process, so it’s not as bad as it used to be, but it is something you might want to consider. Nothing like a set of cold hands on your lady to ruin the mood for sex.

Good luck bro. I hope it goes well for you.

VED with a pressure gauge

I have yet to find a medical grade VED with a gauge. Maybe there are some?

I also haven't seen a medical grade VED with a pressure gauge. I use a gaged VED for exercising and learned how much vacuum I can take without pain or discomfort. When I use the medical grade one for PIV, I know when to stop based on the discomfort I feel - sometimes backing off just a little. You don't want to pump until it starts to hurt or gets too uncomfortable.
