Pumping after Radical proctectomy

Postby buddypayne » Thu Oct 27, 2022 9:19 am

Hi everyone, when VED pumping after RP to maintain and or restore length should I be pumping at high or low pressures? How often and long should I pump?

Thanks

Hi buddypayne

My Dr suggested twice a day. I usually did it during morning shower for about 15 minutes and pumped until it just felt uncomfortable. Post-surgery it is uncomfortable no matter what amount of vacuum. The bigger problem was getting a ball sucked up into the tube...

The big thing is to do it as you know for the blood flow.

I went through the same almost 5yr now.
Unfortunately I didn't start pumping until many months after surgery.
My penis had retracted to nearly nothing.
My doctor had recommended a pump for a erection for sex.
That didn't work out for me, but using it regularly for health and rehabilitation.

I would recommend leluv cylinders.
They're reasonably priced, and available through Amazon or direct.
You will want to get one that has a vac gauge to see where your comfort level is.
Typically you will start at 3" to 5"hg vac.
As you get conditioned to pumping, you will feel comfortable with higher HG"
I have read a medical grade pump is limited to 17" HG. I can't imagine that much, but is recognized as the safety limit.

The one thing about leluv and other top cylinder companies is the abundance of diameter options. 1/8 to 1/4" increments.
A proper size is important. Too big and getting a good seal will be difficult, along with sucking a nut in. (Uncomfortable)
Of course you don't want anything to small.
My healthy erection was about 2" wide, and that is a good starting spot.
In time I purchased a2.25" and the difference is huge. Wished I would have gotten a 21/8" instead.

To start, I clean shaved the base of my penis and the whole sack.
This and lube will create a good seal. A water based lude is the best since it's very easy to clean yourself and the cylinder.

Most of this is what feels right for you.
Know as pulse pumping, pump up to 3-4"HG and hold for 3min. ( you will need to add another pump as the penis engorges or a leak)
Release the pressure for a few seconds, and repeat.
This up and down pressure should draw in fresh blood each time.
In time you can increase the HG" and time in the session as you feel comfortable with.

Ultimately, after a year pumping by hand, I had a routine I liked.
I purchased the CTC DP-4000 programmable electronic pump.
It's very convenient to turn it on, and let it run your program. I run 30min sessions 1-2 times daily, but take weekends off.
In fact, am running a session as I write this!
We are stuck with this for the long term and the electric pump is ideal.

I'm considering the IPP.
Currently, my insurance doesn't cover "sexual disfunction" BCBS
Am looking for a different insurance company that would help cover this.
In the meantime it's me and the pump to stay healthy.

Hope this helps
Stay safe and enjoy!

I also will add, I was concerned about loss of length, let alone overall size.
I added a extender along with VED.
After pumping, would go to an extender for a couple of hours.
Thought this would help stretch things out a bit, more so than a 30min VED sessions.
I got a Phallosan Forte. A bit spendy, and had issues with their sleeves and pump.
Also had pretty decent luck with the cheaper Chinese knock off avaiable on eBay.
The silicone sleeves that seal are pretty much junk and good replacement can be purchased from total man or LG Hanger.
When healthy, was 6x5+"
After time of pumping and light extending, I now pump to 7"

The key for me, is when I get the IPP, if done properly, I hope to be my normal size.
If I hadn't done anything, doubtful about that.

Thanks for the information! Just wondering which extender do you use?

Early on, bought the cheaper vac/bell on eBay.
I got one that had a comfortable Velcro belt.
It's advantages is the ability to stretch over either hip, straight down the leg, or straight up.
Thinking I needed higher traction, I got a Quick Extender Pro.
It uses a noose to secure the penis, and is very uncomfortable.
I rerigged it to use a vac/bell and it's way more comfortable.
Don't use it much because it's kinda bulky and a pain in the ass at potty time.

I also got the Phallosan Forte.
It's probably my go to stretcher. Easy to put on and off.
Only really use it at TV time in the evening.
Only complaint is the cost and reliability. Had to to replace some of the parts $.
I also got replacement sleeves from a different source. (LG Hanger)

I believe that traction over time can elongate the penis, but I'm not really interested in putting that much time into this.
I'm just trying to get things stretched back out, as you know what happens after RP surgery.
